We are absolutely in awe of everyone that voted for Ventnor Paddling Pool in the Seaside Heritage Network Bucket and Spade List 2024 - we were in a long list of incredible destinations, attractions and experiences around the country.... We're so proud to announce that Ventnor Paddling Pool came second 🥈 - and it is thanks to everyone who took the time to vote and leave comments as to why they love the tiny, yet iconic pool on Ventnor's glorious seafront. Yesterday saw a fantastic celebration 🎉 of coastal resorts at Merlin Cinemas Ltd Plaza Cinema in Weston-super-Mare, including a performance on a 1935 Compton Organ (yes, it rose from the ground, just like you'd imagine!), a potted history of Weston-super-Mare from Allan Brodie, a fascinating interview with Paul Doe about his experiences based on his book 'From a bag of chips to cod confit; a tour of twenty English seaside resorts', an update on Birnbeck Pier restoration from North Somerset Council's Rachel Lewis - all leading up to the top ten in the Bucket and Spade List! Sadly I couldn't wait for the Swanage Punch and Judy show 😢 A huge congratulations and thank you to Kathryn Ferry Samantha Richardson MBE Anya Chapman Allan Brodie for such a brilliant day, and to everyone for making me feel very welcome - and congratulations to all the entrants to the Seaside Heritage Network Bucket and Spade List - especially Ventnor Paddling Pool!
