As the national tourism agency – a non-departmental public body funded by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), VisitEngland plays a unique role in developing English tourism through supporting business growth and informing industry with statutory research and insights and engagement activities through events and communications. We provide extensive support for the domestic tourism sector through our business support hub, publications and resources, the Pink Book of Legislation, Quality Assessment Schemes and the annual VisitEngland Awards for Excellence. We also run the annual English Tourism Week and Tourism Superstar campaigns, all of which champion the industry and everyone working within it. VisitEngland/VisitBritain is headed by Chief Executive, Patricia Yates and Nick de Bois CBE is the Chair of the British Tourist Authority. NEWS: 📰 Our CEO Patricia Yates comments on Office for National Statistics data out today for inbound #tourism. VISITS: There were 19.5 million inbound visits to Britain from January to June 2024, up 11% compared to last year. SPEND: International visitors spent £13.4 billion on their trips in the first half of this year, on par with Jan to June 2023. The latest data shows varying rates of recovery and growth from across our major inbound visitor markets.
