🥈 Proud to announce that Plaistow Hub has been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ at the #BTRAwards! Populo Living’s latest project took second place in Best Build to Rent category, standing alongside big names in the industry like Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield's Coppermaker Square. Plaistow Hub is one of our largest developments, offering 182 brand new homes across two separate residential buildings surrounding Plaistow Station. Delivered in collaboration with Pitman Tozer Architects and contractors Vistry Group, the design focuses on placemaking, with improvements to the public realm including a new The Gym Group location, Co-op shop and square with seating outside of the station entrance, with a cafe due to open in the new year.   We’re proud to be recognised amongst such heavy hitters, and want to extend our thanks to Love to Rent and Base Furnishings Ltd for sponsoring the award! We are set to build 228 new family homes on a 28.5-acre site in Sileby, to help combat the need for housing in the area. This development will include a mix of affordable and open market homes, designed to blend seamlessly with the Leicestershire community. Utilising modern construction methods, our local timber frame panels will enhance sustainability and reduce emissions by 14,460 kg CO2e per home compared to traditional builds. Andy Reynolds, MD of Vistry South East Midlands, said: “We are committed to delivering high-quality, affordable homes to enhance communities and meet local housing needs." Planning permission is in place, and we aim to start work on the site in 2025.

On September 24th, Vistry Cornwall and Latimer by Clarion Housing Group teamed up with Pollenize CIC for a successful volunteering day focused on biodiversity.   We conducted a comprehensive Bioblitz programme, engaging local volunteers to document local flora and fauna through a series of ecology surveys. This hands-on effort not only strengthened teamwork but also deepened our commitment to preserving the environment and enhancing community engagement.   Peter Sadler, Managing Director of Vistry Cornwall, shared, “It’s inspiring to see our teams working together for a sustainable future.”   Owen Finnie, Founder of Pollenize CIC, emphasised the importance of citizen science in managing our green spaces: “Facilitating data collection through citizen science can increase inclusivity in how we manage our green spaces.”   Read more about the work Pollenize is doing and its latest developments here: https://lnkd.in/eVhfubeF

We’re working with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to build up to 177 new affordable homes on the site of the former Simon Digby School in Chelmsley Wood. Alongside the homes we’ll also be delivering a new play area, nature trail and public spaces. We’re now in the process of developing the designs for the site and will carry out a series of public consultations before submitting a planning application for the scheme later this year.

We are excited to announce our partnership with SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, and the Gordon Messenger Centre (GMC) at the Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, Lympstone.   This July, around 150 volunteers from the military community—including veterans and their families—came together to create a therapeutic garden at the GMC. This outdoor space enhances existing facilities by providing a tranquil environment that fosters relaxation and wellbeing, built by the military community for the military community.   Vistry Group has chosen SSAFA as its charity of the year, supporting the project with volunteers, local supplier partnerships, and donated resources.   The multifunctional, accessible garden features sensory elements like a fire pit and water feature, raised beds for growing plants, and a Wellness Centre for yoga and quiet reflection for those facing PTSD and other mental health challenges.   A huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible. https://lnkd.in/esSF5a-K
