Work is in full swing at Solenis as we drive down carbon consumption at their Bradford site by upgrading the energy centre, and futureproofing their production capabilities 🏗️   We’ve recently taken delivery of two new high-efficiency steam boilers which will play a key role in meeting the site’s peak steam demand. These boilers are not only vital for Solenis’ current operations but will minimise their environmental footprint too.   Find out more about the 17-year partnership here: https://lnkd.in/drPBeWK4 #sustainability #industrial #energyefficiency

  • Exciting times... The first shipment of district heating pipework for the Solihull Low Carbon Energy Network has arrived! This is not just a delivery; it’s a pivotal moment in our partnership with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to create a greener, more sustainable future for their town. This scheme will significantly reduce building energy emissions and pave the way for additional building connections in the town centre. The arrival of the pipework marks the beginning of a journey that will end in customers receiving more affordable, low carbon heat. This innovative network will connect a variety of buildings, from council buildings to education campuses, and was specifically developed to reduce carbon emissions while lowering energy costs. In addition to the network, the project will see the creation of an energy centre, built on land next to Tudor Grange Leisure Centre and will house a range of renewable and low carbon energy solutions including Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP). But this is just the start! The network has ambitious plans to expand, connect even more of the Solihull community in the future and spread the low-carbon benefits, helping Solihull in its drive towards Net Zero Carbon emissions by 2041. #netzero #heatnetworks #districtheating

Cheers to a more sustainable future for the Scotch Whisky Industry! 🌿⚡🥃 Exciting news from Simpsons Malt: The game-changing 12MW electric boiler has just arrived at their Berwick-upon-Tweed site after completing the 360-mile trip from Norway! Why is it such an exciting moment? • This boiler is set to help slash carbon emissions by a whopping 80% at the UK's largest malting site • It will work alongside three 6MW biomass boilers, reducing emissions by 25,000 tonnes annually • The site produces 260,000 tonnes of malt per year, with 90% going to distilleries This isn't just about Simpsons Malt… It’s a big step forwards for their customers in the Scotch whisky industry. By decarbonising their operations, they're helping their customers achieve their net-zero goals too. One of the things which makes this project truly special is that the boiler will use excess renewable electricity from North Sea wind farms, making the energy-intensive malting process greener than ever before. Here’s to our partners Simpsons Malt Limited and AMP Clean Energy on reaching an exciting milestone! 🥃 https://lnkd.in/er9x2gjc #netzero #foodanddrink #netzero #windpower #electricificationofheat

  • Did you know that the University of St Andrews is Scotland's sunniest university?☀️ We’re hoping we can help them turn those rays into a renewable revolution by assessing their buildings for rooftop solar and, if viable, the project could lead to some impressive benefits: 🏫 65 buildings under assessment for rooftop solar 🌱 Potential to save 200 tonnes of CO2 each year ⚡ Boosting energy independence 🎯 Accelerating towards their target of net zero by 2035 It’s fantastic to see one of the oldest universities in the world embracing the latest energy technologies to drive down their carbon emissions. https://lnkd.in/ee_-XZa9 #sustainability #solar #netzero #universities

🌟Connecting Women in District Heating 2024🌟 The annual Connecting Women in District Heating conference, hosted by the District Heating Divas, is a pivotal platform for empowering women, under-represented groups, and allies within the district heating sector - both across the UK and globally. As the main sponsor of the event, it was great to give insight into a couple of our projects, and see our empowered women out in force... 🎤 Embrace your cheetah! Helen Ord set the stage with an inspiring message: trust your instincts and unleash your inner strength. 🚀 Finding your path: Personal stories from Mansi Vaish, MEng and Emma Holden highlighted the diverse and non-linear career journeys within the heat networks sector. The session was a testament to resilience and the endless possibilities for women in our industry. 🏗️ Showcasing our projects: As the conference was held in Glasgow, we invited delegates for a tour of the nearby Queens Quay, a large-scale water source heat pump which takes heat from the River Clyde to heat local homes and businesses. We also gave a 360 insight into the exemplar Leeds PIPES heat network in a one-off webinar. Together, we are shaping the future of district heating! #districtheating #empowerment #careergrowth #inclusionanddiversity #sustainability #heatnetworks #womeninengineering #CWDH2024

We were honoured to host Bill Esterson,MP, the newly elected Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero committee Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, at the groundbreaking Mersey Heat project with Ener-Vate and Peel Waters, to demonstrate how heat networks and the water source heat pump are helping Liverpool create infrastructure to decarbonise the City. Following the visit, the Sefton Central MP commented, “The committee will be examining in detail how we deliver energy security and net zero by 2050, this is one of those solutions that can unlock low carbon development..." To hear more about what Bill Esterson thought of the project click here - https://lnkd.in/evyB2GeF This project serves as a blueprint for sustainable urban heating, showcasing the potential of heat networks in decarbonising cities across the UK. It's not just changing Liverpool; it's setting a precedent for the nation's green energy future. We'd like to give a big welcome to this year's net zero apprentices, who will be working across the projects and departments that will contribute towards combating fuel poverty, reducing carbon and driving the UK to achieve its net zero targets. But we’re not just looking for the engineers who will deliver our low-carbon projects…the net zero apprenticeship programme was designed to cultivate the leaders of tomorrow and support their long-term development. At some point, we’ll be handing the baton over to our new recruits and asking them to complete the mission we begun; to protect our planet for future generations. To help them on their journey, we want you to cast your mind back to your very first day in the industry. If you could give your younger self one piece of career advice, what would it be? If you’ve got a car park, then you can use it to generate solar energy!☀️🚗 Find out how Salford City Council installed car ports at two of its depots which are now supplying over half a million-kilowatt hours of low-carbon electricity each and every year. We worked with the council to create a solution which meant they wouldn’t lose any parking spaces at their Turnpike and Swinton depots and the solution now saves them 270 tonnes of carbon per year. This clean energy is used by the council’s offices and nearby NHS premises and is another step towards Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s target of installing 45MW of solar. Want to learn more about how this technology can turn your car park into a low-carbon solution? Click here: https://lnkd.in/e-HEkB43 #solar #sustainability #innovation #netzero #cleanenergy #solarcarports
