We’re a new sporting operating system that enables the creation, store and share of value for a broader set of stakeholders.     Roblox added 2.6 million more unique paying users last quarter 💰 - the largest quarterly increase since the pandemic - and put on an incredible 10 million daily active users (give-or-take) to reach 88.9 million, up 27% yoy. 📈 What does that mean in terms of engagement? Well, 20.7 billion hours is 2 MILLION years. Spent on the platform. In just a single quarter. Sports rights holders, the time to activate on the world’s biggest social gaming space is yesterday. Sports is about to go HUGE on there in 2025.

    Food for thought about the future of sports broadcast in Roger Mitchell’s Sunday Column, and I’m pleased to have played a small part in its formulation. I foresee that, like in kids entertainment where we saw Moonbug (for those in sports that may not be aware, Moonbug is the owner of YouTube-first property CoComelon that catapulted Moonbug to a multibillion $ valuation at acquisition by Candle Media) break TV’s stranglehold on launching kids IP franchises, there will be an emerging sport that scales on YT as its primary platform, that will be acquired and PERHAPS form the core of a new ‘Disney of Sports’ anchored on YouTube… Anyone with me?     Thank you Ben Wells for allowing me a small input to what is an important read for those facing the headwinds in Sports. Where Gen Z and A is concerned, do rights holders know enough about what's coming? What will separate them going forward is how each adapts to the changing media consumption habits and values amongst the younger generations. This is the ‘user-centric’ era - where they know the value of their attention - and they wield it with impunity. By thinking digital first, about format innovation, about aligning with what Gen Z and Gen A fans actually value in sports, rights holders can determine their future in the new landscape. Of course there will be a period of balancing tradition with evolution, of continuing to serve older fans whilst also capturing the young ones, but it is the latter that will shape the future of the industry - so the time to get to know them is now.

    Introducing onchain subscriptions! The internet's most popular business model is now onchain. Subscriptions are a trillion-dollar market, but they haven’t been implemented on the blockchain yet. We just fixed that. Why this matters? It unlocks a new generation of use cases. Onchain subscriptions are interoperable and can entitle holders to benefits across sites. Imagine if your Spotify subscription could grant you a free drink at a concert by a simple tap of your phone. They are also optionally tradable. Imagine selling that gym subscription you've already paid for but no longer use. How do they work? Subscribers pay with a credit card or (soon) crypto, and receive a token that remains active for as long as payments continue. Apps then gate the services to holders of active NFTs.  Anyone can get started in minutes with ~5 lines of code. Crossmint takes care of all the payments and token management, and provides a simple dashboard to manage subscriptions.
