Last month, the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) hosted the much-anticipated presentation of the NABMA Market Awards at their Annual Conference in Harrogate. These prestigious awards celebrate the dedication, innovation, and service of individuals and teams who contribute to the success of the UK’s vibrant market industry. Sponsored by Blachere Illumination, the awards acknowledge the outstanding work that continues to elevate our markets and communities. We are pleased to share with you that one of our own, Sally, was highly commended in the ‘Young Market Champion of the Year’ category. The competition amongst markets for these awards is very strong so it is no mean feat to be selected and recognised for her contribution to what she has delivered in Wakefield District Markets since she started in May last year. We were delighted to welcome representatives from various government departments to learn more about the Wakefield Families Together model for early support for children and families. This visit was a fantastic opportunity to highlight our strong partnership and demonstrate how Wakefield Families Together had grown the offer for our families. Our Family and Youth Hubs serve as the front to early support, making a real difference in the community. We also took the chance to emphasise the importance of investing in youth work, including making it an appealing career path for the next generation. A special thank you to Pam, who shared her personal experience of how the Family and Youth Hubs have positively impacted her family. Her story truly brought our services to life. We're incredibly proud of the work our Council and partners do to support children and families, and today was a great opportunity to showcase these efforts.
