We are incredibly proud of Matthew as well! It is important to support your peers, friends and colleagues not just on #WorldMentalHealthDay but all year round!
BSc (Hons) | MRHistS | MIoL | MIEP | Helping adults to reach their potential in employment, education and skills. Also climate champion, and sustainability supporter.
Today is World Mental Health day, and I am extremely proud that I am able to genuinely say that I work for an employer who cares about mental health and wellbeing. In fact I myself am a member of Wakefield Council’s Enabling Wakefield Employees group, working hard to support colleagues within the council who need support with issues around health, disability and wellbeing. I am also proud to be a Climate Champion for my team, and we work incredibly hard to listen to and support the residents we work with to help them improve their wellbeing via having access to sustainable living initiatives and engaging with green spaces and much more! In addition to this, I am employed within the STEP UP Wakefield team to support employed people who are external to the council, across our district, with employment and skills, helping them to progress their careers and access a range of support including wellbeing services, and advocating for such initiatives as Disability Confident and Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust etc. I’m also incredibly proud to say that my colleagues across the Step Up family are skilled in supporting people who are unemployed, people who are requiring often complex needs support and who many be in recovery, and young people too! We are anything but a one size fits all team, in our approach, you as an individual matter to us. It is also worth saying that i myself have a lifelong complex health issue/disability and personally i am a huge advocate for Crohn's & Colitis UK due to this, and i can honestly say that my direct manager Sharon Booth MIEP genuinely cares about her team's mental and physical wellbeing, and i am not ashamed to say that when i have in the past had poor mental health Sharon took time to take on board who i am as a person and has supported me ever since with ensuring i do not become unwell again. Thanks Sharon! Oh and i also need to give a shout out to #ANDYSMANCLUB because they are always there. Always. Without fail. Apologies for the long post! This one is an important one for me. Anyway, if you think that Step Up can be useful to you please have a look at https://lnkd.in/eJQPebjy to see what we are all about and make contact with us to find out more. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WakefieldJobs #StepUp #StepUpWakefield #WakefieldCouncil

Last month, the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) hosted the much-anticipated presentation of the NABMA Market Awards at their Annual Conference in Harrogate. These prestigious awards celebrate the dedication, innovation, and service of individuals and teams who contribute to the success of the UK’s vibrant market industry. Sponsored by Blachere Illumination, the awards acknowledge the outstanding work that continues to elevate our markets and communities. We are pleased to share with you that one of our own, Sally, was highly commended in the ‘Young Market Champion of the Year’ category. The competition amongst markets for these awards is very strong so it is no mean feat to be selected and recognised for her contribution to what she has delivered in Wakefield District Markets since she started in May last year. Well done Sally! 👏 NABMA - National Association of British Market Authorities

We were delighted to welcome representatives from various government departments to learn more about the Wakefield Families Together model for early support for children and families. This visit was a fantastic opportunity to highlight our strong partnership and demonstrate how Wakefield Families Together had grown the offer for our families. Our Family and Youth Hubs serve as the front to early support, making a real difference in the community. We also took the chance to emphasise the importance of investing in youth work, including making it an appealing career path for the next generation. A special thank you to Pam, who shared her personal experience of how the Family and Youth Hubs have positively impacted her family. Her story truly brought our services to life. We're incredibly proud of the work our Council and partners do to support children and families, and today was a great opportunity to showcase these efforts.
