Wisdom Hospice Charity is a local charity based in Rochester who support those with terminal diagnosis or who’s illness has become life-limiting. Providing care at home, on the Ward or in Hospital, the hospice’s aim is to help improve the quality of life for patients and their families. On Friday, friends, family, and members of Team Ward brought in donations of clothes and accessories for the ‘ The Hangar’ – a brand-new shopping experience warehouse run by the Wisdom Hospice Charity. Donations filled two cars and were estimated to be at least £700 worth of goods – money raised from all sales at The Hangar will be used to help vulnerable ones in need. Not only is this a fantastic initiative, but it also acts as a community hub and supports the circular economy with innovative up-cycling. The Hangar is based in Rochester and officially opened on Saturday 5th October at 6 Lankester Parker Road, ME1 3QU. If you're local to the area, please visit the team there to show your support. A huge thank you to everyone who donated, to Brian Stroud and Samantha Walden for delivering the donations, and most importantly to Wisdom Hospice Charity for the fantastic work that they do. https://lnkd.in/esz4DD5e #esg #community #charity

Last week Team Ward held a Macmillan Coffee Morning at its Chatham office, organised by Becki Negus, Talent Officer, for the second year running. A fantastic effort from everyone who either baked, bought, or simply ate and donated - together we raised a total of £213 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Donations from all coffee mornings raise vital funds to support the 3 million people in the UK diagnosed with cancer to continue to live life as fully as they can. £200 will help a family affected by cancer pay for energy bills, travel to hospital or home adaptions. Thank you Becki for organising another successful coffee morning – a great cause and we’re delighted we can help to make a difference. https://lnkd.in/eSgGtiQJ #MacmillanCoffeeMorning #TeamWard #MakingADifference

The team has been busy again supporting a local children's centre with essential improvements on site. A key priority at the centre is the privacy of the children, so this time Team Ward assisted in ensuring the outdoor space is private and secure for the children and their parents who use it. Together, with the onsite team, a woodland themed space was created which now allows the children to play in a safe environment without being seen from outside of the centre. Well done Elaine Keiller, Daisy Carr and Brian Stroud for helping make a difference. #community #teamward #esg

Today marks World Suicide Prevention Day, the theme this year is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide” – aiming to raise awareness about the importance of reducing the stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides. In honour of World Suicide Prevention Day, the Consortium for the Prevention of Suicide held its conference today, “Change the Narrative”. The conference supports the aim to raise awareness, change the way we talk about mental health and suicide, promote understanding and compassion while providing valuable insights into prevention strategies. Ward is proud to be a Founding Gold Partner with the Consortium for the Prevention of Suicide, and together we stand and commit to helping make a difference. Only 45% of people are comfortable talking about suicidal thoughts - today is about changing this and helping people speak more openly about suicide. Through education, community support and advocacy, we can help make a change. #WSPD #MentalHealthMatters #WorldSuicidePreventionDay

Today marks International Day of Charity, established with the objective of mobilising people and organisations to help others through volunteer and philanthropic activities. At Ward, our vision it to lead our sector with what we believe in, not our market share. We certainly believe in the brilliant basics which has to include making a positive difference to the communities in which we work, whether that’s volunteering, fundraising, or mentoring. Since the beginning of the year, Team Ward has supported 19 separate charities and causes. From our centrally supported charities such as the Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust, Dandelion Time and Mind, Body & Sole UK, to the collaborative causes alongside our clients including the dragon boat race for WaterAid litter clearing from the waterways of London and volunteering at a soup kitchen, on to the fundraising efforts driven by Team Ward, through which we have raised all important funds for MacMillan Cancer Support, the Teenage Cancer Trust, Great Ormond Street and more. Well done to all the team who have helped to support any of these charities and causes, but more importantly, a huge thank you to the charities themselves, whether that be for their relentless pursuit of improving the lives of disadvantaged individuals or the preservation and protection of the environment. Can we beat the 499 volunteer hours we spent out in the community in 2023? We are definitely working on it! #InternationalDayOfCharity #SupportCharity #esg
