While 65% of respondents have achieved relative integration with regular monthly calls and consistent data inputs, only 11% report a high level of integration with weekly check-ins. This underscores the need for deeper collaboration to bolster resilience. 📊🤝 💊 Addressing Drug Shortages The impact of drug shortages on patient care and organisational financials is profound. Respondents highlighted negative effects on the quality of patient care and disruptions to timely medication access. To overcome these challenges, chemical manufacturers are realising that adopting a company-wide culture of open data sharing will be key to making meaningful progress in unlocking the power that data management enhancements can bring to the table when reducing carbon emissions.   🌐📈Equally, with waste reduction being a top priority for many, there has been a trend towards the implementation of circular business models. Circular business models allow chemical manufacturers to create value by cutting costs, reducing reliance on raw materials, and minimising energy consumption. However, this strategy is relatively new and those working on them face challenges in investment, having the necessary processes and technologies, and overcoming operational silos.   📊🌍Implementing a company-wide approach coupled with a collaborative culture with all stakeholders is paramount for successful decarbonisation progress. Collaborating with transportation solution providers, in particular, has been highlighted as a key focus, and heads of supply chain are facing challenges in these efforts, in part due to a lack of infrastructure for reporting data, increased costs and an unwillingness to share emission-based data from their transportation providers.   🗣🤝With regulations set to become more stringent and far-reaching, collaboration could be the key to evolving the chemicals industry towards carbon neutrality. Solutions are there, data is available and new technologies are emerging all of the time. When asked about their biggest data management challenges, nearly a third (31%) of respondents expressed significant concerns over data breaches and security. Given the industry's substantial investments in research, groundbreaking innovations, and the handling of sensitive patient information, safeguarding against cyber threats is paramount. 🚀 Embracing Real-Time Data: Despite these challenges, there are many positives on the horizon. An impressive 97% of the 150 supply chain leaders we surveyed are already gathering real-time shipment data to enhance decision-making in their logistics operations. Notably, no respondents lack plans to implement such data collection soon. In today’s fast-paced, interconnected world, anticipating trends and reacting swiftly is crucial. 🌍 Transportation Data Analysis: Organisations are also reaping significant benefits from transportation data analysis. Our survey reveals that 47% of respondents identified improved collaboration and data sharing with supply chain partners as their top benefit.   Close behind, 43% emphasised support for corporate sustainability initiatives. This demonstrates how supply chain leaders are leveraging data to drive positive change and sustainability in the industry. The pharma industry's commitment to data-driven innovation is clear.
