Bootstrapping can be one of those roads, offering founders the freedom to grow on their own terms. Martin SFP Bryant’s post on bootstrapping and breaking the VC narrative reminds us that there’s more than one way to grow a business - sustainable growth can happen without external investors.Interested in finding out more? OneTech CEO and co-founder, Emma Joy Obanye recently appeared on Bloomberg Television to discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion in the tech sector. The tech sector's rapid growth brings both opportunities and challenges, particularly in fostering diversity and inclusion. And it’s not just VCs who are responsible for the lack of diversity in tech - it’s the whole ecosystem. Emma discussed the need for collaboration between tech companies and policymakers to ensure that everyone—regardless of gender or background—has the opportunity to thrive in this rapidly evolving industry. Our CEO Emma Joy Obanye’s recent piece in the Evening Standard highlights a critical conversation for startups: "Why are male-led companies, even in femtech, receiving disproportionate funding?" At OneTech, we believe that innovation isn’t restricted to one gender, and VC investment should reflect that. In Emma’s article, she explains that news of Europe’s first femtech unicorn brings to light the ongoing challenges female founders face. The stats are telling: in 2023, only 1.8% of VC funding went to female-founded startups. Why? Systemic, societal barriers that continue to favour male-led ventures. We’re committed to fostering a more equitable startup landscape where female-led innovations don’t just survive but thrive. Let’s continue to champion diversity, inclusion, and equity in tech—because real change happens when we invest in it. Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/e_5HAuDc
