It's time for another #LGBTQ+ Leader Spotlight! 🏳️🌈 🎉 Did you know it’s UK #BlackHistoryMonth? Throughout October we'll be highlighting some of the amazing Black Queer Leaders in our Global Speaker Collective. Gatonga Theuri is a Black, African, gay man originally from Kenya, now based in London. Professionally, he has over 20 years in change management and people transformation, working today in the field of Data Science, insights and analytics as a Programme Manager at Diageo. Gatonga spent much of his life growing up in Nairobi (Kenya) hiding the parts of his identity relating to his sexuality and avoiding the queer community at all costs. Now he wants to play a part in the healing and self-acceptance of the community; helping LGBTQ+ individuals live better, more elevated and quality lives through self-love, self-knowledge, and self-care. He is a leader in his company’s LGBTQ+ employee resource group dubbed Rainbow Network, as well as a founding member of the Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage employee resource group that focuses on racial equity and celebration of all cultures. 📖 Find out more about Gatonga's work here: https://lnkd.in/eHtkJXgd #DiverseLeaders #InclusionMatters

Happy #NationalComingOutDay! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ We loved working on this video with Tolu Osinubi about her personal coming out story. 💜

Director at Deloitte UK | OUTstanding Future Leaders List 2020 & 2021 | Highly Commended Influential Role Model of the Year 2022, Diva Awards | Keynote Speaker | Diversity, Inclusion & Intersectionality Advocate

🌈 Today is National Coming Out Day 🌈 Coming out is a deeply personal journey. Whether you’re out or still on your path, know your story is powerful and valid. It’s important to create safe, inclusive spaces in the workplace and society where everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves without fear or judgment. I’m proud to say I’m a Black British Nigerian Lesbian technology leader. It’s a mouthful, but it's very important to me to recognise how my various intersectional identities make me who I am. It’s also UK Black History Month, and this year's theme is “Reclaiming Narratives”, marking the shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture. I’m resharing this WE CREATE SPACE project, where I shared my journey. The biggest lesson on my own journey was to understand that ‘all the experiences and things I was taught to see as weakness are my greatest strengths.’ #NationalComingOutDay #LGBTQ+ #DiversityAndInclusion #Intersectionality #wecreatespace #ReclaimingNarratives #BlackHistoryMonth2024 #queerstories

Happy #ComingOutDay! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Coming out is a brave and beautiful act of living in your truth, and today we celebrate everyone who has taken that step. We see you, and we're so inspired by the authenticity you share with the world every day. 💗 But we also want to remind those who aren't ready to come out yet—it’s okay. You are in control of your journey, and there’s no rush to come out. Take your time, find your support, and know that you are loved regardless of where you are in the process. It’s not always easy, but your truth is valuable, and when you're ready, we'll be here with open arms. 🌱 Whether you're out, questioning, or waiting for the right time, you belong, and your experience is valid. If you're newly out and looking to make new connections with other LGBTQ+ folk, why not sign up to one of our Queer Speed Networking events? 🎟️ Barcelona | 17th October | Sign up to WCS Barcelona Network to join: https://lnkd.in/ePVuURtw Online | 5th November: https://lnkd.in/ecXC-keF London | 19th November: https://lnkd.in/eEm832Ua #LGBTQProfessionals #Pride

Happy #WorldMentalHealthDay! 🌱 We don't all face the same mental health challenges, so recognising the specific needs of individual communities is a must. 🌈Moving to Barcelona, WE CREATE SPACE and its events made me feel like I´m in the right place. It opened its doors to an authentic community and my eyes to what queer and inclusive activism can do beyond buzzwords of #diversity. I met the ever-dancing souls Loane ALONZEAU and Paula-Adjo Soli and sucessfully freaked-out Sanjukta Moorthy (Sun-yook-ta) before speaking at a live event 😀 ....SOOO it makes me really happy and proud to have joined them officially! Thanks to Coda Nicolaeff and Jon-Paul Vicari (He/Him) for your kind introductions! 🌈 https://lnkd.in/eJiU8gS6

The #1 improvement you can make for your employees this #WorldMentalHealthDay 👇🏽 It's not a gym pass, team days out or pizza Fridays - it's psychological safety. 🌱 Psychological safety can transform our leadership – to support the wellbeing of our employees, create a space where innovation thrives in everyday interactions, and ensure a lasting culture of belonging. But it doesn't happen by accident. Psychologically safe cultures: ✏ Exist by design. 💪🏻 Require conscious, consistent efforts. 🏆 Reward vulnerability and generate cultures of belonging. 👨🏾 Allow historically excluded groups to feel empowered to contribute. Ready to learn more about psychological safety? 🎙 Check out our 'Pride & Beyond' podcast episode on Psychological Safety featuring Marie-Helene Tyack, Nicole Simpson, Obella Obbo and Scott Sallée: https://lnkd.in/ekpYurTk 📖 3 tips to support the mental health of employees in high performance cultures: https://lnkd.in/esdsTsxa 💌 Get in touch at hello@wecreatespace.co to start your company's psychological safety journey. #PsychologicalSafety #MentalHealthMatters
