Empowering parents and carers of children with life long disabilities in NE Scotland

About us

We Too! Magazine was the brainchild of Phionna, who as a parent of a child with additional support needs was becoming increasingly frustrated by the fragmented information they were receiving along with the lack of options for fun activities which her family could take part in. The idea in its simplest form was the development of a magazine, that would give families of those with additional support needs, consistent information and ideas on activities custom designed to meet their needs. Phionna is looking to go beyond advertising events and activities in the magazine, and as well as using her interactions with the various companies offering family friendly opportunities to cover the costs to produce the magazine, creating sustainability, but to make providing these services a way to ensure the charity can self-sustain. We Too! Magazine also takes an active role in coordinating seasonal campaigns, giving children the opportunity to celebrate holidays in a safe environment, which have proved to be extremely successful. Most importantly, We Too! Magazine has created a forum for people living in a similar situation to liaise and engage with each other, sharing similar stories and creating new social networks. This has proven to be socially beneficial, not only for those who have lived with the challenges for a while, but those who are dealing with change.

  • #TestimonialThursday "Well done Team We Too that was a tremendous effort to pull off all nights. Hats off to the work that you all do." Kenny (Spectra 2024) 💡 🌟 We’re throwing an epic Award Night in April, and we need YOU to make it even more amazing! We’re celebrating ALL the champions of inclusion and accessibility – the businesses and individuals who are making sure that everyone, no matter their ability, feels welcome and supported in our community and in the ethos of all things We Too! as voted by our customers. 💚 If your business loves good vibes, social impact, and the idea of helping us throw a night of celebrating good practice, then this is for YOU! Think of it as an evening of clapping, celebrating, and high-fiving (metaphorically, or literally if you’re into that) all those who are paving the way for a more accessible community. 🙌 We’re on the lookout for sponsors and supporters who believe that a more inclusive, accessible world is not just a nice idea—it’s a must. If you’re ready to get involved, help us throw the best party of the year, and show that you care about making things better, please drop us a DM or email to: events@wetoo.org.uk 🤓 Remember: The only thing more inclusive than this event is our invitation to YOU to get involved. 💃🎉 #WeTooAberdeen #NinjasAssemble #Inclusion #MoreThanAMagazine #RelaxedSessions #TestimonialThursday #Feedback #TogetherWeCan #Aberdeen #Aberdeenshire

  • NEURODIVERSITY WEEK 17th - 23rd March OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder It's a mental health condition where someone has obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviour. OCD can affect men, women and children. Symptoms can start as early as 6 year old, but it often starts around puberty and early adulthood. Having OCD can be upsetting and frustrating as it interferes with daily life, but with the right treatment, they can take control of their life. It can lead into an obsession with unwanted and unpleasant thoughts, image or urges that repeatedly enters your mind, causing anxiety, disgust or unease. Compulsions is a repetitive behaviour or mental act that you feel you need to do to temporarily relieve the unpleasant feelings brought on by the obsessive thoughts. A perfect example would be if someone had the fear of being burgled, would need to check their windows and doors are locked several times before actually leaving the house. OCD sufferers are sometimes reluctant to seek help because they feel ashamed or embarrassed. It is a health condition so there's nothing to feel ashamed or embarrassed about. It also doesn't mean you're "mad" if you have it. Help is available * Self refer to an NHS talking therapy service * See a GP There also are treatments available for people with OCD. It's not been proved what exactly causes OCD in people. Family history, differences in the brain, something that had happened to them in life or personality could be some of the causes. People who have OCD are often more than welcome to drop into our Ninja HQ in the Trinity Centre for a chat with our green hooded Ninjas. They will be happy to give you support, advice and signposting #NeurodiversityWeek #OCD #NinjaHQ #MoreThanAMagazine #WeAreTheSame #WeTooAberdeen #NinjasAssemble #SmallCharityBigImpact

  • NEURODIVERSITY WEEKI 17th - 23rd March DYSLEXIA Dyslexia is a common learning disability associated with reading, writing and spelling. It is estimated that 1 in every 10 people in the UK has some levels of Dyslexia. Dyslexia is a lifelong condition that can present everyday challenges but support is available to improve reading and writing skills. Signs of Dyslexia - Read and write slowly - Confuse the order of letters in words - Be confused by letters that looks similar and write the letters the wrong way round (such as "b" or "d") - Have poor or inconsistent spelling - understand information when said verbally, but have difficulty writing them down - Find it hard to carry out a sequence of directions - Struggle with planning and organisation BUT people with Dyslexia often have good skills in other areas, such as creative thinking and problem solving. The exact cause of dyslexia is unknown, but it often appears to run in families. It is thought certain groups inherited from the parents may act together in a way that affects some parts of the brain development during early life. #NeurodiversityWeek #Dyslexia #NinjasHQ #WeTooAberdeen #Inclusion #TogetherWeCan #HugeImpact

  • 😎 “Revisted” - To return to a place after being away for a period of time” 😎 Has it really been a whole year since we put together a group of Ninjas in a sensory adapted funfair session, with an egg hunt during the Easter Holidays? ………….🤔 We are Back! Introducing Eggstravaganza Night – Revisted! 🐣 We are so grateful that Codona’s, once again, have donated this session for the outdoor funfair and all associated costs, allowing 100% of ticket sales to help We Too! towards our increasing costs. 💚 This event will be limited in numbers to ensure less waiting time for rides and less crowds. There is also no music playing during the session and sensory break out areas are available as well as sensory borrow kits. 🙌 Participation in the egg hunt is optional (don’t worry, we will make sure that everyone leaves with an Easter gift!) 😋 If you’ve been lucky enough to attend our Dream Night or Twilight Night last year, you will know just how special these evenings are so please do tell your friends who may benefit from ………Eggstravaganza Night! – Revisited! 🤓 ‼️ When is the Eggstravaganza Night - Revisited? We’ve got you covered; we will have lots of alternatives to cater for a variety of sensory/dietary requirements. ‼️My loved-one won’t do the Easter Egg Hunt! They don’t have to!
