At times of political uncertainty, such as the election of a new US president, some investors can act irrationally, altering their portfolio to position for a specific outcome, or moving money into cash deposits until things ‘settle down’. Now that the dust is beginning to settle following the outcome of the US election earlier this week, we can see that markets are up with the S&P 500 up 4.37%, and the Russell 2000 index up 8.20% over the last 5 days. Those that remained invested would’ve benefitted, whilst those that were tempted to deviate from a structured financial plan and investment strategy would’ve missed out on those returns, reinforcing the argument that it’s all about time in the market, rather than timing the market. Too often, we encounter complexity where simplicity is what we really need. And the financial industry is no different, with many using complexity to spread fear. Instead, we believe in building a simple strategy based on the concepts of spending less than you earn, investing for your unknown future, compound interest, and historical market returns combined with old-fashioned discipline and patience. We explore the merits of simplicity in our latest article - https://lnkd.in/ecgYxSRr

We did it! Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge complete ⛰️✅ After a 5.30am start, Paul, Jack and Will, hiked 24.5 miles, climbed 5,200 ft, took over 60,000 steps, enjoyed a beautiful sunrise…and got drenched in a torrential downpour! 🌄🌧️ But they completed the challenge in a fantastic time of 10 hours 30 minutes 🎯 It’s safe to say the challenge pushed everyone’s stamina to the extreme and there’s been some achy legs in the office today! A huge congratulations to all of the team 👏🏻 If you’d like to make a donation, you can still do so here 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/dfrttkFk

Tomorrow, Paul, Jack and Will, along with some of our friends at DJH, are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. It’s a tough hike covering 24.5 miles and climbing a total of 5,200 feet, but we’re doing it to make a real difference… We’re raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, a cause close to our hearts, and there’s still time to support us by donating to our JustGiving page - https://lnkd.in/dfrttkFk

We take a look at the advantages offered by pensions that property investments lack - https://lnkd.in/e4nrMnRk
