The People's Platform. Social media that unites people to change the world
About us
Social media was originally established to connect people. But it has now fuelled unprecedented isolation and division. It has damaged democracy, exploited creators and publishers and stripped people of value. Addictive algorithms control what people see and how people feel, forcing more ads and less friends into our feeds, so the tech giants can make even more money. This has turned humanity into the largest unconscious and unpaid workforce in human history. Not on our watch. WeAre8 ushers in a new era for social media, one where people, brands, communities and creators unite to change the world: - No anonymity, or damaging algorithms, plus AI technology that eradicates hateful content - Reimagined economic model that shares advertising dollars with people and charities through a centralized in-app wallet. - A transformational advertising experience that is 100% opt-in, provides brands with unrivalled attention, click through rates, brand love and a turn key solution to all your ESG goals - all powered by the world's first sustainable ad manager - SAM-i

There was a post by Emily Wurramara over the weekend that really struck a chord with the WeAre8 team and exposes what so many endure online each and every day. 😢 A social home should lift you up, not pull you down, when it stops doing that, we have to ask ourselves why we are still here? If your'e looking for a brighter side of social, that isn't fuelled by toxic algorithms, where there's love (no hate), and your time on a social platform can help support community groups and charities, come and join us on the #weare8app 💛 This is Emily's story: "When you don’t read the comments, but your friends do. I’m posting this on here to spread awareness of the racism within this industry and in this Colony. I’ve Been told to kill myself at least 10 times this week via socials. I’ve had to go in and delete comments manually because some of them are VERY disturbing and distressing to read. This is the amount of racism every black person in this industry gets when we have some sort of success, well anything really. Mind you all I did was sing a cover of @hozier for @triple_j. This is what First Nations people all over the world have to put up with. How do we make this space safer? How do we feel safe as a mob? It shouldn’t be my responsibility. I apologise to any mob who are triggered by these words. I won’t stop and I won’t back down. If anything it’s ignited me to go harder and be louder. I am a proud Warnindilyakwa woman, I come from an ancient culture that is 65,000+ and I’m so fucking proud of that. 🖤🔥❤️ it always was, always will be." #lovenohate #peoplesplatform #weare8

One of the greatest thrills we have here at WeAre8 is providing community groups with new ways to not only connect with their people in a safe social home but also demonstrate how the shared economics of WeAre8 has the potential to bring about incredible change within their communities. Francisco J. Nunez and the Young Peoples Chorus of New York City is one group leading the way, and we couldn't be prouder to have them on 8, helping them realise their mission to unite and inspire the world through the power of music. #peoplesplatform #lovenohate #WeAre8

Loving the inspiring energy of sport to elevate people last week. And two incredible moments for WeAre8 where our community is changing the world through sport. The Common Goal Football for Sustainability Summit took place in Berlin. Juan Mata and Rio Ferdinand, take to the stage to discuss the positive impact we can make when we come together. And the amazing ‘Blow the Whistle’ team won yet another tournament. How amazing are they! It truly is time for #lovenohate #weare8 #thepeoplesplatform #techforgood

“There’s a real opportunity to make impact here. The players have the power, and if we come together we can make real change.” Rio Ferdinand speaking on the power of #weare8 alongside Juan Mata García at the Football for Sustainbility Summit. #peoplesplatform #lovenohate Common Goal
We were joined by Juan Mata García and Rio Ferdinand at the Football for Sustainability Summit for an insightful discussion about collaboration and the role football can play to create impact. “Society looks at corporations, football and sports in a different way now. They look for more than what they used to, for what their values are. “The shift is happening. It will change quicker over the next years, and football needs to make more impact,” Juan stated during the discussion. “We need to be collaborative and transparent,” said former Manchester United and England defender Ferdinand. “There’s a real opportunity to make impact here. The players have the power, and if we come together we can make real change.” Thanks to both for their fascinating input on how football can be unleashed as a force for good 🤝 WeAre8 📸 act.3 #fss2024 #footballforsustainability

"Our goal is to unite 1% of humanity, just 80 million people standing together with love, and feeling inspired and valued every day." Zoe Kalar, #WeAre8 Founder and CEO. We stand with you, Izak Rankine. The Brisbane Lions have cancelled the membership of a disgraced footy fan who racially abused Adelaide Football Club star Izak Rankine over social media during their AFL clash on Sunday. “Racism is unacceptable. There are no excuses,” a Lions statement read. We couldn’t agree more. No matter the game, no matter the circumstances, racial abuse is always a foul in our books. We’re calling out racism in sport. Will you #BlowTheWhistle with us? #TogetherWeSayNo #UnitedWeStand #AFL
