Fantastic first issue as editor, Simon!
What's that satisfying thud on the doormat? Oh, look, it's the September/October issue of The Planner - and it's as featuretastic as ever. 🎤 We've got a great cover interview with Gavin Parker, in which he digs beneath the surface of Labour's plan for growth and its relationship with planning (clue: he's sceptical). Photography by the very talented Louise Haywood-Schiefer ⚡ Plus check out that amazing homage to wrestling posters by ace designer Craig Bowyer - how better to illustrate the quandary of not having enough energy grid capacity to meet housebuilding targets to fuel the aforementioned growth? 🔥 This issue's final feature is a fascinating analysis by Catherine Early of the implications for planning of the Finch judgment on so-called downstream emissions - ie, that applications for fossil fuels development must count the emissions created from their use as well as the operation involved in getting them out of the ground. 🏘 On top of all of this, we have Laura Edgar's detailed take on the government's housebuilding targets, industry opinions on the NPPF and health, a round-up of the most important planning appeals and - well, stacks more planning and placemaking content (not forgetting our star columnists Steve Quartermain and Nicola Gooch. Click the link to visit The Planner website, check out the different content sections, read our frequently updated content and find out about subscriptions to print and web. https://lnkd.in/dCAcjHy #townplanning #urbanplanning #urbanism #placemaking #netzero #growth #energygrid #emissions #magazine #tradejournalism #theplanner #rtpi

Big cheers to Redactive's S&PA Professional team for winning Bronze in the ‘Front Cover, Photograph’ category at this year’s Tabbies – the annual international awards scheme run by TABPI (Trade Association Business Publications International). 🥉 👏 The judges commented: "This impactful cover tells a story and draws the reader in. The photograph is well-composed and unposed. The cover lines are well thought out and don’t distract from the visual impact of the photograph, which is allowed to dominate. Great cover." The cover feature ‘Rising above the Fear’ also gained an Honorable Mention – coming in at number 7 out of 25 chosen for the ‘Feature Article: Top 25 Issues’. Redactive publishes S&PA Professional magazine for CIMSPA.
