We're thrilled to announce that Sarah Walton, our current Client Relationships Director and a valued board member, will be taking on the role of Managing Partner in April 2025! 🎉 Sarah has been an integral part of our firm since 2011, following the merger with Mace & Jones, where she began her legal career. Over the years, she has taken on several key roles and her wealth of experience will no doubt drive the firm forward as she steps into this exciting new chapter. We want to extend our gratitude to John Schorah, who will be stepping down after 12 years of dedicated service as Managing Partner.     For employers, navigating the waters of term-time working requests can be daunting. It's of vital importance to handle these requests with due diligence and in a timely manner. Ultimately, the goal is to establish flexible work arrangements that are mutually beneficial. Here's what you need to consider: ◾ Term-time requests are typically lodged by parents, grandparents, or the spouses of teachers who are keen on spending more quality time with their families. ◾ It's an employer's duty to respond to these requests within a quarter of a year, preferably through a face-to-face meeting to ensure clarity and understanding. ◾ Declining a request is an option, but it's crucial to communicate the reasons behind the decision clearly. A general prohibition might put your organisation at risk of allegations of indirect discrimination.
