WSA partner Gray Dawes Sports has been helping world-class sports teams get to top sporting events for decades, so they are well placed to support our members with their travel needs. That's what they did for WSA Member Welsh Rowing last year, supporting the organisation in getting over 70 athletes to the Home Nations Rowing Regatta. "“They arranged (everything) for us with a detailed itinerary and contacts of all the companies. “The experience was very good. They weren’t phased by the travel details and came back promptly; the ease of use was fantastic!” Learn more about our partnership and how your organisation can take advantage➡ https://lnkd.in/e2eqKjDi

💡 It's time to shine a light on our long-standing partnership with Cardiff Rugby! We are thrilled to announce that we have signed a new deal to continue this fantastic partnership. 🔵⚫ We have had a relationship with the Blue & Blacks spanning more than three decades, providing the iconic Arms Park with expert floodlighting and electrical investment, maintenance, and servicing. Now, a new partnership deal has been agreed, which will see the club take further strides towards its sustainability goals while driving down energy consumption. 💚🌍 Gareth Thomas, Floodlighting and Electrical's Managing Director, said: "It is a pleasure to agree and continue our long-standing relationship with Cardiff Rugby. It is a privilege to provide the floodlighting and electrical support for such an iconic stadium as Cardiff Arms Park." "This is a key partnership for us, as we are committed to supporting and improving all the rugby clubs in the WRU with our energy-efficient floodlighting solutions. Building long-established, successful relationships is a key focus of our company ethos." "We are hugely passionate about sport at all levels, and our expertise allows us to help not only Cardiff Rugby but all clubs within the region." I enjoyed chatting to the Welsh Sports Association about all things sustainability & cycling here. Very much looking forward to hosting a panel at this years conference in November and hearing what’s happening across sport in Wales. Who’s coming? 🙋♂️
🌎With the 2024 WSA Sustainability in Sport Conference approaching, we recently caught up with Beicio Cymru's Robbie George around the importance and impact that last year's event had for him and his organisation. “I found it really valuable. There is some amazing work underway from other sport organisations; I love to see it. “It was an ‘awakening’ for us." We chatted about the brilliant work that Beicio Cymru have undertaken around sustainability in the past year, as well as what the future holds too. Robbie will once again be at the WSA Sustainability in Sport Conference this year, chairing a panel focused on Sustainable Transport Solutions. He will also lead a litter pick, inspiring delegates to live the values that will be so crucially discussed on the day! Find the full story➡ https://lnkd.in/eWzb9MXP #SiSC2024

In December, the WSA will host another Lunchtime Learning session, this time joined by partners Hugh James. The session will focus on Legal Structures for Sports Clubs, exploring the advantages and disadvantages of the various structures, considering whether it would be beneficial for a sports club to register as a CASC (community amateur sports club) or charity and the benefits and restrictions imposed by these, as well as delving into good governance and practical steps to ensure sports clubs are managed appropriately. 🗓️3 December 💷FREE Full detail and sign up➡ https://shorturl.at/nwxa5

“We know that people from Black and Asian communities are disproportionately affected by drowning and incidents that occur in and around water. “Through our engagement programmes we aim to ensure that these communities ‘find their place’ in the water and kickstart their participation in aquatic activity. "We are the bridge between disengaged communities and the wider sector, and we strongly believe that everyone, no matter what background, should be comfortable with water and have positive experiences when engaging with aquatic activity." To mark Black History Month, we recently spoke to WSA Member The Black Swimming Association (BSA)'s Steph Makuvise about the organisation's vital work in sport and leisure. Through it's own initiatives and collaborations with other bodies in the sector, the BSA supports underrepresented communities to become more comfortable, aware, and confident with aquatic activity and water safety.
