🎉 The Camellia House is a Georgian Group Award winner! 🎉 The Grade II* listed tea house was turned from a derelict shell on the #HeritageAtRisk register, to a beautifully restored dining destination which opened its doors to the public earlier this year. In recognition of the exceptional conservation work to save and restore the building, it was named winner of the ‘Re-use of a Georgian Building’ category! 🏆 Our CEO, Sarah McLeod OBE, said: “This award means so much to us. Saving the Camellia House, removing it from the Heritage At Risk Register and giving it a new life is a huge achievement. We have future-proofed our beautiful Georgian Camellia House and transformed it into a tea house - the very thing it was originally created for. Now everyone can come and enjoy this elegant place, and the historically important collection of camellias which continue to thrive there.” With special thanks to Donald Insall Associates and William Birch & Sons Ltd for their work and to The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England, Garfield Weston Foundation and others for funding and making this project possible.
