Wessex RFCA is an independent not-for -profit organisation with Crown Status. Our duty is to promote and support Reservists and Cadets across the South West whilst championing the volunteer ethos both within and outside the Armed Forces. We aim to stay at the heart of the local community whilst providing an understanding of the roles and needs of the Armed Forces in general and the Volunteer Reserves and Cadet Forces in particular, illustrating the contribution that these Forces make to the nation and the well-being of its citizens. Our mission is to be an enduring and essential pillar in the delivery of support for the well-being of the Reserves and Cadets and, through our effectiveness and our position in the South West region, to be the independent body that represents their interests and promotes understanding between the Armed Forces and civil society.

At a prestigious awards ceremony held in Dorset, the county's Lord-Lieutenant presented awards to supportive local employers and some exceptional individuals. Four local employers received the Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award.
