To acknowledge Prostate Cancer Awareness month, the team met up with Tina Tew and Owen Pugsley from Prostate Cymru recently to chat all things related to this disease, from PSA testing to risk factors and everything in between. We also managed a photo opportunity to congratulate ourselves for raising £10,000 for the charity at our 2024 golf day. Thank you to everyone who took part.

So pleased to hear these words from the headteacher at the Castle School in Thornbury where Whitehead provided MEP services for Morgan Sindall Construction
'It is Magical!' There are many words that describe the experience of working with and alongside a confined building site in a live school environment. Even after the successful delivery of the new state-of-the-art 'Science and Maths' block at The Castle School in Thornbury, headteacher Jessica Lobbett used these words to describe how her students and colleagues have been impacted. The Design, Build and Delivery was carried out by a dedicated team: SCF Frameworks South Gloucestershire Council Castle School Education Trust (CSET) Morgan Sindall Construction WSP AtkinsRéalis Stride Treglown Craddys #Education #SCFvalues

8th March not only marks International Women’s Day but also marks the end of Women in Construction Week 2025. We caught up with Emma, an apprentice gas engineer in Whitehead’s maintenance team. “I always knew I wasn't suited to a sit down job, I did engineering and design technology in school and knew I loved working hands on… it brings me a lot of joy that I get to use my problem-solving skills to figure stuff out and get things working again. I would 100% recommend women to think about getting jobs like mine. Don't get me wrong, it's scary at first but it's so rewarding seeing yourself excel at a career that is labelled a man's job. If I can do it any woman can do it. People are always pleasantly surprised to see me turn up to fix their leaks and voice that more women are needed, and I agree” Full story here: https://bit.ly/3Fbjcbu Photo Credit: Coleg Gwent

It was great to be back at Bassaleg School for their careers fayre, encouraging young people to consider careers in mechanical and electrical building services engineering. The new Adeilad Balch was delivered in 2023 with MEP services by Whitehead and was the perfect space for the event. Thanks to Jack Royal, Max Cremona and Tim Lockett for attending.

A third net zero primary school handed over for Welsh Education Partnership Company, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Construction under the Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government’s Mutual Investment Model (MIM). Whitehead provided a full suite of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) building engineering services to a design by Hydrock, now Stantec. We hope the pupils and staff of Pontyclun Primary School enjoy their new building!
Practical Completion Achieved at Pontyclun Primary School. We’re thrilled to announce that WEPCo has successfully handed over our third Net Zero Carbon in Operation school: Pontyclun Primary School. We were able to hand the school over 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Thanks to the dedication, collaboration, and hard work of all stakeholders, who were able to make this possible. This achievement is a testament to the power of teamwork and commitment. Special thanks to Morgan Sindall Construction, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government, and Paul Poole from ProjectCo, who oversaw the project for WEPCo with exceptional leadership. Most importantly, this accomplishment will bring huge benefits to the students, teachers, and parents of Pontyclun Primary School, now and for years to come. We’re looking forward to completing the external landscaping works in the coming months before releasing the entire site back to the school. Congratulations to everyone involved! #WEPCo #MIM #EducationInfrastructure #Collaboration #Sustainability

We recently held toolbox talks across all Whitehead sites to remind operatives of our ongoing affiliation with The Lighthouse Charity and the support they are able to provide to workers in the construction industry and also their families. These photos are taken from our site at the Pentre Awel project in Llanelli.

It’s great to be a part of the supply chain on Pentre Awel, helping BOUYGUES UK achieve Net Zero. Whitehead are providing a full range of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health engineering services.
We have reached net zero on the construction of Zone 1 at Pentre Awel! Over the past 24 months on site, the team has made some incredible achievements: 🍃 Reduced direct emissions by 90% ⚡ Cut waste, energy, and water consumption by 10% 🔋 Saved 450+ tonnes of carbon emissions Initiatives like adopting HVO fuel and sourcing recycled materials have made this project the first ever Bouygues UK site to claim this accolade! This, however, is just a glimpse of the commitment behind this achievement. Head to our website to read more about how we reached net zero: https://lnkd.in/efyx39Pe Peter Sharpe, Project Director at Pentre Awel, said of achieving net zero: "We are immensely proud of this achievement. As well as building a state of the art, top quality facility, as a project team we set our minds to reducing as much of our carbon emissions as possible. We set out a plan and I’m so pleased to say that we have achieved it. "This would not have happened had it not been for the determination and support of not only the Bouygues UK staff here at Pentre Awel, but also our amazing sub-contractors and supply chain partners who came with us on this net zero journey." The team's dedication to sustainable construction at Pentre Awel has set a benchmark for success and thanks to the reduction in emissions from the use of HVO on the project, Bouygues UK has made the commitment that all of its building sites across the UK will be powered by HVO. We look forward to seeing what this brings for the future of sustainable construction. #BuildingForLife Carmarthenshire County Council #NetZero
