The High Court granted Amazon's application for summary judgment in the case of Adams v Amazon Digital UK Ltd, after Denver Dorsetra Adams, the mother of boxer Nicola Adams, sued Amazon for libel and misuse of private information over the documentary "Lioness: The Nicola Adams Story". The court found that the statements in question were either true or constituted honest opinion and that there was no reasonable expectation of privacy regarding the information disclosed. In our latest video, Adelaide Scardino Lopez discusses the key takeaways from this case.

Wiggin is proud to support International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is celebrated globally in recognition of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, as well as serving as a call to action for gender equality, advocating for women’s rights and accelerating progress towards a more inclusive world. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, highlights the urgent need to expedite progress in this regard. Despite advancements, trajectories suggest that at the current rate of progress, achieving full gender parity will take until 2158 – roughly five generations from now. An emphasis on the need to ‘Accelerate Action’ stresses the urgency of taking significant steps toward gender equality, urging us to build momentum and break down the systemic barriers and challenge the biases regularly faced by women both personally and professionally. In celebration of IWD, today we hosted an in-conversation session with the Roundhouse Trust and Millie Wood-Downie and Molly McGeachin who run The Project People. Millie and Molly took part in the Roundhouse accelerator programme last year and are now active members of Roundhouse Works. They spoke about their experiences as creative directors and what they hope to see in the creative space moving forward, how the Roundhouse Creative Business Accelerator supported and propelled their business, and the work they do to advocate for better practices, pay and priorities within the creative industries. Thanks so much to Millie and Molly for taking the time to share their thoughts and experiences with us.

In the ongoing case involving PPB Entertainment, which claimed that a software error meant they didn’t have to pay Corrine Durber, a Paddy Power customer, her £1m+ in jackpot winnings, the High Court found that what is displayed on screen determines winnings (not the hidden server records) and deemed that the operator’s consumer terms were problematic and unenforceable.
