As the professional world begins to wake again from it's Christmas Slumber, we are excited by what is to come for our industry. 2025 is set to be a landmark year for nature restoration and sustainable development. We are committed to continuing to build on the momentum of 2024's groundbreaking Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) initiatives, and we're gearing up for an exciting journey of growth, innovation, and impactful partnerships.   Here's a little recap of what we have been up to in 2024:   ⭐ Acquired land and launched new projects in BNG, Nutrient Neutrality and species mitigation across the country. ⭐ >£18m in BNG offsets sold or under contract in 2024 (excluding the value of Option contracts we have issued on BNG Units) ⭐ Welcomed new clients including Avant Homes, Bellway Homes, Bloor Homes, Cala Group Limited, CONNOLLY HOMES PLC, HARRON HOMES LIMITED, UK Home Office, Keepmoat, Persimmon Homes, Perspex Distribution Ltd, Vistry Group, and multiple LPA development projects, as well as many small and medium sized developers ⭐ Supported small developers by selling fractional units (down to 0.01 units) with no minimum order size ⭐ Forged partnerships with ecology practices, planning consultancies and global contracting businesses to provide reliable, quality and affordable solutions for their clients.   As our promise, we continue to push for a higher integrity BNG market by (amongst other things) ensuring that we operate with the following:   🌱 Restoration of nature is permanent, not temporary (30 years is a really short timeframe in the world of nature and BNG could inadvertently aid the long-term destruction of nature) 🌱 Capital required to deliver the projects is properly protected, managed independently and only used to deliver the outcomes it’s for (to reduce the chances of failure and fraud) 🌱 BNG habitat management and monitoring plans, yield calculations and monitoring are all independently delivered (to protect against false accounting, fraud or unrealistic targets – we’ve seen the impact that this has had on the carbon markets). So with all that being said, we are thrilled to kick off 2025 by welcoming new team members in both ecology and finance. 🤝 Throughout the year, we will share inspiring stories from our clients who are leading remarkable developments and financing nature restoration initiatives. Our goal is to highlight their contributions and showcase the tangible impact of their investments in nature. We are lucky to have Jack Potter on team who can get out and do the ‘dirt’-y work. 🌱 Soil surveys are imperative to understanding the land and what is possible for BNG, knowing your baseline is key. ✅ Soil supports the creation of all plant life, but is often an after thought. Which is why we believe soil samples should be taken as a standard part of ecological surveys for BNG.
