The Glanffrwd project, completed in partnership with WILLIS CONSTRUCTION, has been an enormous success, so much so that the final homes look even better than the CGI designs. The development delivers 23 energy-efficient homes, including: 🏠 10 two-bedroom homes for four people   🏠 3 three-bedroom homes for five people   🏠 2 four-bedroom homes for six people   🏠 4 two-bedroom bungalows for three people   🏠 4 one-bedroom walk-up flats for two people  Every home meets the latest Welsh Development Quality Requirements (WDQR 2021), designed with inclusivity in mind and prioritising energy efficiency. With EPC A ratings, high-level insulation, electric heating, photovoltaic panels, and storage batteries, these homes are built for the future. We're especially proud of the local craftsmanship. Earlier this week, representatives from Cadwyn Housing Association, Willis Construction, along with consultants and other project partners participated in a ‘spade in the ground’ event for ‘The Mill’ development in Canton. The event officially marked the commencement of construction works of a brand new mixed use development of 48 apartments, office space and a community hub. It was a significant milestone for the scheme and was celebrated accordingly by all who attended. It was also an opportunity to reflect and thank Simon Fry, Director of Investment for his achievements on behalf of Cadwyn. After some time for guests to mingle and chat about the project, as well as reminiscing over previous development successes over a hot drink and delicious pastries, there was a photo opportunity ahead of some speeches from David Hayhoe and Simon himself. Thank you to everyone involved in the day. We are extending a warm Willis welcome to Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate students who are undertaking volunteering with us to highlight the importance and impact of the construction of affordable homes in Wales. We're excited Brynteg Comprehensive School A-level pupils Anwen Thompson and Max Lewis are participating at our community events as part of their Global Community Project, commencing on sites this week with our clients Cadwyn Housing Association and RHA Wales, and continuing over the next few months. 👷♂️ 👷♀️ With the focus of their project underpinned with Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government's Wellbeing of Future Generations Act, it aligns perfectly with our Social Value activities and will be fantastic to view the work we undertake through their perspective. We have had meetings with them in their preparation for the experience, and as part of their project proposals, both have requested to undertake communications with stakeholders, including social media. They will be creating some content for us, and we hope you enjoy their posts over the next few days, and months. We're delighted to build on our relationship with St Gabriel & St Raphael Primary School in #Tonypandy, with a site visit from their School Council to #buildSHED.at our RHA Wales regeneration project #BigShed. As always, the children were a credit to the school. They told us about the process of their election to the council and what they want to achieve in their roles over a hot chocolate and some jaffa cakes!
