About us

If you cannot influence change, you must build your own – and so we did – WINFORD INTERNATIONAL. We understand the needs of students, parents and the community. We are not just about grades on paper that keep parents happy, and the students continually set up to fail. It’s a controversial statement – we know! Over time, we noticed more parents choosing to have their children educated at home. Then came Covid-19 which turned things upside down. It forced the hands of educators to rethink the learning models. Many leaders didn’t move for fear of not getting it right, believing the situation would be quickly resolved and back to business as usual. However, this is the new ‘usual’. We at Winford International anticipated this, it’s long been our dream to build a school – the very right school that parents, students and the community truly need and deserve. At Winford International, we do things differently. Firstly, we focus on your child as an individual. Then we help them understand where they are, how they fit in, and give them agency of how to see where they want to go. Finally, we use our cutting-edge learning materials to engage your child through a safe, secure, inspiring and hugely progressive learning journey. In the fullness of time – your child will emerge from Winford International educated, confident, skilled and ready for their next season of life; be it, transitioning through school, moving onto further/higher education/university or into the workplace. In short, your child will be very aware, self-reliant, and curiously asking: What, Why, Where, When, Who, What If and How? Want to know more? Great. Email us now, and we will schedule an online meeting to answer all your questions and satisfy your curiosity. Hope to see you soon! Carl Halford Winford International

Day 22: Healthy Eating Habits 🍎 Introduction Today’s theme is all about Healthy Eating Habits! What we eat can make a big difference in how we feel and how well we learn. 🍽️ Healthy foods give us energy, help us concentrate, and keep our bodies strong. Let’s explore how to make good food choices that will fuel your body and brain for school. Why Healthy Eating Habits Matter Healthy eating is super important for students because it helps you stay energized and focused throughout the day. When you eat the right foods, you can think more clearly, do better in your schoolwork, and even feel happier! Plus, healthy habits now can help you grow strong and stay healthy in the future. Tips for Healthy Eating 1. Eat a Balanced Breakfast: Start your day with a nutritious breakfast like whole grains, fruits, and protein. It’s the best way to wake up your brain! 🥣 2. Choose Healthy Snacks: Fruits, veggies, nuts, and yogurt are great snacks to keep you going between meals. 3. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water during the day. Avoid sugary drinks like soda. 💧 4. Pack a Healthy Lunch: If you bring your lunch, include a mix of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and protein. If you eat at school, try to pick the healthiest options available. 5. Limit Junk Food: It’s okay to have treats sometimes, but try to limit how often you eat candy, chips, and fast food. Activities - Create a Healthy Meal Plan: Write down what you could eat for breakfast, lunch, and snacks for a whole school week. Try to include different food groups in each meal. - Food Journal: Keep a food journal for a day. Write down everything you eat and drink. At the end of the day, check if you made healthy choices. 🍌🥕 - Healthy Recipe Search: With a parent or guardian, look up a new healthy recipe that you can try at home. Cooking together can be fun! Reflection and Journaling - Reflection Question: How do you feel after eating healthy foods compared to eating junk food? - Journaling Prompt: Write about a time when you made a healthy eating choice. How did it make you feel? What healthy foods do you want to try more often? Final Thoughts Healthy eating is a key part of feeling your best and doing well in school. Remember, you have the power to make choices that help your body and mind stay strong. Every healthy bite counts! 🍇 This wraps up Day 22 of your countdown. Keep up the great work, and let’s get ready for an awesome school year ahead! 🌟 See you soon! 🌟 Carl #WinfordEmpowers                              #HolisticEducationAtWinford                     #WinfordExcellence                              #WinfordInnovation #WinfordCriticalThinking

Transforming Education: Addressing the Elephant in the Room In many schools, there is a pervasive culture of not rocking the boat—of avoiding change to maintain a semblance of stability. This is often justified by highlighting the experience of the board of governors and the longstanding tenure of certain staff members. However, this reluctance to embrace change hinders progress and innovation, ultimately failing our students and community. The Problem with the Status Quo Pandering to tradition overvalues the stability offered by long-serving staff and governors. While their contributions are important, an overemphasis on maintaining the status quo stifles new ideas and necessary changes. The focus on preserving tradition leads to resistance to adopting new methodologies that could significantly enhance the educational experience. The Need for Root-and-Branch Reform Focus on the Collective Good: Education should prioritise the collective good over individual interests. Decisions should benefit the entire school community, even if they challenge established norms. By focusing on student development and educational excellence, schools can foster continuous improvement. Embrace Diverse Perspectives: Innovation thrives in environments where diverse perspectives are encouraged. Schools need to integrate new ideas from younger staff, recent graduates, and external experts to break the cycle of conformity and introduce relevant strategies for today’s students. Invest in Professional Development: Continuous professional development is crucial. Schools should invest in training programs that encourage teachers to experiment with new approaches and share best practices, fostering a culture of lifelong learning among staff. Leverage Technology: The integration of technology is essential. Schools must invest in infrastructure and training to ensure effective use of digital tools, facilitating personalised learning and preparing students for the digital economy. Promote Collaborative Leadership: Leadership in education should be a shared responsibility. Collaboration among heads of schools, teachers, students, and parents can lead to effective decision-making and a stronger sense of community within the school. Conclusion: A Call to Action The future of education depends on our willingness to make bold, transformative changes. It’s time to move beyond pandering to tradition and individual interests, focusing on providing the best possible education for our students. By embracing diverse perspectives, investing in professional development, leveraging technology, and promoting collaborative leadership, we can create a dynamic and inclusive educational environment. The time for complacency is over. Let’s shake up the education system and lead the charge into a brighter, more innovative future. Carl Halford
