He follows our CEO Teri-Ann Winslow FIIOM who will complete her 2021-2024 term at the end of the year. John's extensive expertise in obsolescence management solutions and his dedication to advancing best practices within the industry make him a valuable addition to the council. John brings a vision focused on raising awareness of obsolescence management as a fundamental component of sustainability. Through his role, he aims to spotlight the critical importance of obsolescence management, transforming it from an often-overlooked issue into a widely recognised priority. John's marketing and publicity experience positions him to elevate this conversation both within the IIOM community and in broader industry circles. "I’m honoured to join the IIOM UK Council and eager to advance the recognition of obsolescence management as a cornerstone of sustainability,” said John Dyson. “Together, we can bring innovative, sustainable, solutions to solve industry’s biggest challenges." A passionate advocate for growing the obsolescence management community, John intends to drive initiatives to expand IIOM’s membership base. By fostering partnerships, including with academic institutions, he plans to enhance engagement and encourage fresh perspectives within the field. Additionally, he is committed to promoting IIOM’s role as a professional organisation, representing it at conferences and events beyond the traditional circles to increase its visibility and influence. John also values the contributions of solution providers and SME manufacturers, recognising their vital role in the obsolescence management landscape. With a career rooted in the UK’s SME manufacturing sector, he will continue to champion these innovative businesses, helping to ensure they receive the recognition and support needed to thrive in an evolving industry. Winslow has been an active member of the obsolescence community with IIOM and its predecessor COG in the UK since 2003. I wanted to close up on the hugely successful IIOM 2024 International Symposium United States this morning. What an insightful (if exhausting) event it turned out to be! Now safely back home, my key takeaways are: Firstly, if you weren't there, you rightfully should have FOMO. The selection and quality of presentations was superb this year. - One to beat at the IIOM (International Institute of Obsolescence Management) Conference in Paris 2025! Teri-Ann Winslow FIIOM and myself have talked to many inspirational Obsolescence Managers and potential Partners on our exhibition stand, after presentations and at the many networking sessions. Thank you for engaging in the conversation. We hope to continue these relationships now we are safely back home! I have never heard the words "... avoid costly re-designs ..." so many times in 4 days! Thank you to TJ Zitkevitz for his efforts as IIOM (U.S. Chapter of International Institute of Obsolescence Management International President, and in his inspirational vision for the Symposium.
