Thank you, Nataliia Cherepovska, for your article in our PV Magazine Series. A beautifully worded piece on the impact of our solar industry to remind us of the positive impact we can make when we join forces. This week, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu Network) gives voice to Nataliia Cherepovska, communication manager at Poland’s Menlo Electric. She says that especially in Ukraine, where she comes from, solar is more than a green initiative – it’s a lifeline. “𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿-𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀,” she states. “𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 – 𝗶𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲, 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀.” The impact of solar energy extends beyond environmental benefits. It's a catalyst for social transformation, especially in communities that struggle with unreliable power infrastructure. By offering clean, affordable energy, solar enables a shift toward independence, breaking the reliance on fossil fuels and grids. This isn’t just about powering homes—it’s about empowering communities. In Ukraine, where energy infrastructure is jeopardized by war, solar is more than a green initiative—it’s a lifeline. Solar-powered crucial facilities keep running even when the grid falters, ensuring critical services. The impact on healthcare is profound, allowing life-saving operations to continue uninterrupted. Schools can stay open, providing stability for students in an otherwise unstable environment. Thank you, Nataliia Cherepovska, for sharing your valuable insights with us! 🌟 Want to read more? Thank you, Sofie Graunbøl, for your article in our PV Magazine Series, highlighting the importance of building processes and practices for women to enter the installation segment and feel we can fit in. https://lnkd.in/ddMBEGfB #womeninsolareurope #womenempowerment #inclusionstartswithme #InvestInWomen
This week, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu Network) gives voice to Sofie Graunbøl, Technical Sales and Sustainability Lead at Denmark’s Solar Polaris A/S. She explains that solar installation is a male-dominated segment, as many of the practices regarding installation are built around the physical strength of men, making it harder to hire women. “𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲,” she states. The solar industry, often perceived as male-dominated, can greatly benefit from diversity. When women are involved in creating processes, asking questions, and leading, they bring a different perspective that can lead to innovative solutions. This is why I advocate for more women to join the industry in any role. Diversity is not just a buzzword; it's a catalyst for driving positive change. One of the current issues in the PV industry is the lack of women applying for jobs. In the year I've been with our company, I haven't seen more than five women apply for any positions. Thank you, Sofie Graunbøl, for sharing your valuable insights with us! 🌟 Want to read more? Check out the link in the comment below 👇 #Renewables #Energy #Technology

Thank you, Elina Kivelä, for your inspiring article in our PV Magazine series. Creating an inclusive and diverse culture in organisations is a very conscious effort led by remarkable individuals. This week, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu Network) gives voice to Elina Kivelä, chief of staff at Sweden’s Turn Energy. She says companies should implement mandatory physical training, daily wellness hours, great parental leave benefits, health check-ups, and a hybrid work model. “𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁,” she states. The solar industry is an innovative and fast-growing field, offering the opportunity to be a pioneering leader in driving gender equality and diversity. Structured mentoring programs, opportunities for professional growth, and encouraging female leadership at all levels will help women pave the way for more women to join and stay in the industry. I've been highly inspired by other women working in typically male-dominated companies, which has given me the strength to believe in my own success. At Turn Energy, we are proud to have 50% of the C-suite positions filled by women, and on average, in the whole company, we are 40% female. Still, we have encountered challenges finding women for specific roles, particularly in more technical positions. Women are making their mark. Thank you, Elina Kivelä, for sharing your valuable insights with us! 🌟 Want to read more? Check out the link in the comment below 👇 #Renewables #Energy #Technology

Thank you, Deanna Greenhalgh, for your fantastic article in our PV Magazine series sharing your experience and highlighting critical aspects for women to keep growing in our industry. https://lnkd.in/eVszTj5V #womeninsolareurope #womenempowerment #inclusionstartswithme #InvestInWomen
This week, Women in Solar Europe (WiSEu Network) gives voice to Deanna Greenhalgh, Director of Development at SAS ENERGY, EDF Renewables' C&I Solar Division, EDF Renewables UK & Ireland. She says that, earlier in her career, she sometimes felt that her knowledge and experience weren’t acknowledged, believed or expected by others. “𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲-𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻,” she states. My early career path was heavily driven by my enthusiasm for being part of the renewable energy industry and my curiosity to learn. I worked across a wide variety of technologies, which gave me a good grounding in the industry. I took up as many opportunities as possible to attend conferences, talks, and networking events. These were sometimes challenging as I was often one of the few women in the room, but I pushed myself through the uncomfortableness to grow my knowledge and connections. Want to read more?
