About us
Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of over 170 organisations that provide just under 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across England. For 47 years we have campaigned on behalf of our members and survivors to shape policy and practice, and to raise awareness of domestic abuse. Our support services, which include our Live Chat Helpline, the Survivors’ Forum, the No Woman Turned Away Project, the Survivor’s Handbook, Love Respect (our dedicated website for young people in their first relationships), the national Domestic Abuse Directory and our advocacy projects, help thousands of women and children every year.

We were proud to support Kick It Out's #KickSexismOut campaign launch at Brentford Football Club this morning! Tackling sexism and misogyny in football is crucial, as these harmful attitudes often extend beyond the stadium. With research showing abuse can rise by 38% after a big game, addressing these issues in football culture is a positive step to promoting change and reducing domestic abuse after major matches. Let's work together to create safer matches for women and girls both on and off the pitch. #EndDomesticAbuse #EndVAWG #ComeTogether

With some perpetrators of Domestic Abuse inevitably slipping through the net, survivors are at risk - help us ensure their voices are heard. 👉 Read our full statement here: https://lnkd.in/e7jF2xMq

This #InternationalDayofCharity we have a lot to reflect on at Women's Aid. We’ve spent the last five decades building a powerful movement to end violence against women and girls. Despite the successes along the way, our mission feels more urgent than ever before. This summer, news headlines have been dominated by heart-breaking stories of male violence against women and girls. These are not isolated attacks - misogyny and hatred have allowed male violence to escalate to epidemic levels. We must end this cycle. If you believe all women deserve to be safe, join us. It doesn’t cost anything and you’ll be first to hear about how you can help us to end violence against women and girls. Join our movement today. Over 300 domestic abuse offences were reported during the Euros, according to the National Police Chiefs’ Council—a statistic that underscores a much deeper issue. While football should unite us, for many women, it brings fear and danger into their homes. Women's Aid is committed to raising awareness and understanding the link between sporting events and domestic violence. It’s time to take action and ensure everyone can feel safe during these moments of celebration. Read the full response from Women's Aid and learn how you can support the fight against domestic abuse.
