Join the mission to champion the True Representation of Women in Advertising! We are thrilled to share that WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership ) has partnered with Snap Inc., YouTube, Pinterest and influencer marketing agency Billion Dollar Boy to launch a powerful campaign under our #RepresentMe initiative. This campaign amplifies WACL’s mission of accelerating gender equality in our industry. We feature four amazing creators: Trina Nicole, Ellen Jones, Jamelia Donaldson, and Lucy Edwards. In interviews with two WACL committee members, Selma Nicholls and Chloe Davies, they share their personal stories and highlight the importance of diverse representation in advertising. Their voices represent the vast spectrum of modern women, curating invaluable conversations about how women should be authentically represented in advertising and society. Despite progress, studies like Ipsos’ A Woman’s Worth and the Geena Davis Institute's research show that women still feel underrepresented in advertising. Many women feel invisible or misrepresented, significantly impacting their confidence and happiness, job opportunities, and career progression. We need to ensure that ALL women are represented in media and advertising and that we keep up with the pace of change in society and women's lives today. Our new campaign addresses this issue head-on, urging the industry to take immediate action to represent all kinds of women, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. We chose creators to examine how women are represented as they are already attracting audiences and communities of women who do not necessarily see themselves represented anywhere else. The ever-growing number of women creators, representing a wide range of nuances and lifestyles, is a testament to the huge opportunity women audiences and the creator economy offer our industry. This year's initiative builds on last year’s campaign and ongoing efforts with partners like the Unstereotype Alliance, ISBA, and the Advertising Association. We call on everyone to join the conversation, champion positive and authentic representation, and drive a new era of change. Representation is not just a moment but a movement. Let’s hold ourselves accountable and continue pushing for a future where every woman feels seen and valued. Check out the campaign and join me, Nishma Patel Robb 🪩⚡️ and our WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership )community in making a lasting impact! WACL is a club for women leaders whose purpose is to accelerate gender equality in communications and marketing.
About us
WACL is an industry networking organisation that brings together the most senior female leaders in marketing and communications. Our members are drawn from brands, media owners, advertising and media agencies, and other industry businesses. Our purpose is to accelerate gender equality in communications and marketing. To deliver this we focus on three things: • Inspiration • Support • Campaigning We provide inspiration and practical support to aspiring female talent via Gather - our annual conference, our quarterly mentoring sessions. We offer training bursaries via our Future Leaders Award to help young women achieve their potential. We come together to inspire and help each other, and regularly hold prestigious speaker dinner events and activities for the enjoyment of our members and their guests, and in support of our purpose. As well as raising money for NABS, the charity that champions the well-being of our industry’s people. Our 2020/21 campaigning focus is on flexible working, leading with our call for organisations to commit to being Flexible First. Flexible working is a primary influencing factor in closing the gender pay gap, ultimately delivering gender equality in our industry and beyond. • Flexible working is a proven win:win for employees and employers alike - 87% of men and women want to work flexibly; flexible working boosts employee productivity, satisfaction and retention - yet 35% of employees do not have access to flexible working and only 15% of jobs are advertised as flexible. • As industry leaders our goal is to affect change: we’re aiming for 100% of jobs to be advertised as flexible and for employers to measure and report the commercial and people impact of two way flexible working roles. You can follow us on Twitter @WACL1 or visit our website; www.wacl.info

Make sure to listen to Nishma Patel Robb 🪩⚡️ on BBC R4 here: https://lnkd.in/ghZXXt6S 👏
We had a great time at BBC Broadcasting House recording 'The Bottom Line’ for Radio 4. In particular, it was excellent hearing from the fantastic Nishma Patel Robb, former President and current Executive Member of WACL (Women in Advertising & Communications Leadership ), former marketing director at Google and founder of The Glittersphere. Nish was part of a panel alongside Sir Ken Olissa, Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London and Chair and founder of Restoration Partners, and Jessica Spungin, Adjunct Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at London Business School. Guided by brilliant host Evan Davis, guests reflected on the business year and looked at some of the highs and lows across the landscape - nominating companies and brands for the (unofficial!) Bottom Line Business Awards. A fantastic listen for companies, brands and leaders on what's gone right - and wrong - in the last 12 months. "A safe and respectful environment is the least all of us deserve. It also allows creativity to flourish and ensures that everyone can contribute to their fullest potential." Lori Meakin of the #timeTo Steerco and WACL Exec explains how sexual harassment is often misunderstood, how it remains “a significant barrier to a positive and productive work environment” and – most importantly – how we can all help to eradicate it.
