  • We are thrilled to announce that our elected charity for 2025 is Toutes à l'école. Toutes a l école is a charity committed to providing a high standard of education to 1700 underprivileged girls in Cambodia so that they can become free, educated women and play a useful role in their country. In Cambodia, scarred by the Khmer Rouge genocide, poverty dominates the rice fields and girls are often the first to be deprived of an education, instead toiling in the fields. Over 2025, WiTR+ will aim to raise €15,000 to renovate the dormitories of the 400 ‘post-baccalaureate’ girls, to provide them with a healthy living space and good conditions to support their studies. With a 100% pass rate, many have gone on to pursue studies in medicine, engineering, law, agronomy and more. The dormitories are essential as some live far away and cannot afford accommodation in Phnom Penh. They are currently damp and covered in mould. Funds raised will cover the cost of replastering, the application of anti-fungal paint and the installation of dehumidifiers in all the rooms. The charity was put up for nomination by Priscilla Haibe De Walque, who said: “I am so proud and thrilled that WiTR+ has voted for Toutes a l école. I had the opportunity to visit the school in Phnom Penh several years ago, and was incredibly moved by the impact it has on these children’s lives. Inspired by this, I have been sponsoring a young girl through the association for the past five years, and it has been a rewarding experience to see how this support has made a difference. I truly believe in the mission of Toutes a l école and the vital work they are doing.” For more information about the charity: https://lnkd.in/gTp8J4h #charity #womenintravel #travelretail #fundraising

  • On October 29, 2024, Geneva hosted its inaugural Women in Travel Retail (WiTR+) networking event at the offices of Bacardi. This first-of-its-kind gathering in Geneva brought together more than 40 influential women from the travel retail sector, creating a unique platform for connection, inspiration, and empowerment. The evening featured engaging conversations along with an inspiring talk by Dominique Ben Dhaou, Managing Director of PointNorth. Dominique, with her extensive background in HR leadership across 12 industries globally, spoke on the theme, “Empowering Connections: Unlocking Leadership Potential Through Networking.” Her insights on leadership and well-being set the stage for meaningful interactions among attendees, sparking discussions on collaboration and professional growth. This landmark event not only marked a pivotal moment for women in Geneva’s travel retail sector but also paved the way for future gatherings, strengthening networks and fostering a community of empowered female leaders. Our thanks go to Bacardi for hosting the event and to Avelines for the tasty gifts. #travelretail #womenintravel

  • Last night, Women in Travel Retail+ members gathered for an intimate, members-only event at the Tateossian London offices, with drinks generously provided by Chapel Down Group. It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow members and share insights about our industry.    The evening featured a Chapel Down wine tasting alongside an insightful brand overview, giving us a deeper appreciation of their offerings.    We also heard from Robert Tateossian, Managing Director of Tateossian, who shared thoughts on the brand’s position in travel retail compared to the domestic market.    We were grateful for the update from DFNI’s Kapila Ireland and Katie Floyd, Director of Marketing at Harding+ on the current trends within the cruise industry, sparking some thoughtful discussions.    Thanks to everyone who attended, and to Tateossian London and Chapel Down for making it such a pleasant evening.   #WomeninTravelRetail #Tateossian #ChapelDown #TravelRetail #Cruiseindustry Gerry Munday Sarah Branquinho Jessica McGratty-Singer James McLean Tom Hepworth-Bond

  • Thank you Gebr. Heinemann for hosting our latest WiTR+ networking night in Hamburg. Around 30 female executives from travel retail and representatives of Gebr. Heinemann suppliers met for a dinner at ÆNDRÈ restaurant. The welcome speeches were given by our Chair Sarah Branquinho and Saskia Möller, LL.M. Möller, Director Legal, Compliance & Sustainability, who has been a member of our Steering Board since the end of 2023. Janine Op het Veld, founder of ÆNDRÈ, spoke about her career, challenges in her industry as a woman and her mission to contribute to sustainability in the world with her food. In a very personal keynote speech, Kerstin Schepers, Managing Director Heinemann Cruise Liner Global GmbH Retail, addressed the importance of motivation, confidence and trust in oneself and combined this with key insights from her own personal and professional experience. “We are delighted that the second WiTR+ networking event we´ve hosted as Gebr. Heinemann was so well received,” says Saskia Möller. “We chose ÆNDRÈ because it is run by a very committed intercultural team of women and because it focuses on sustainability, with high-quality vegan and seasonal dishes and food sharing. In both my roles at Gebr. Heinemann and WiTR+, it is very important to me to combine personal, human-centric exchange with sustainability.” A fundraiser for FRASI´s “Bike to School” project in Sri Lanka, which we significantly support this year, also contributes to the sustainability aspect. Gebr. Heinemann has kindly agreed to double the amount raised. We would like to express our sincere thanks. Many thanks also to all wonderful women who joined and made our Hamburg event another great opportunity to learn from, inspire and support each other. #EmpoweringWomen #Networking #Charity
