Well done Mike! 🏃♂️ Mike Stokoe completed the Great North Run this weekend, finishing the half marathon in a time of 1hr 49. The testing course finishes with a series of hills and the run was made even more challenging by the wet weather. Mike says everyone was soaked through in the first 45 minutes. Throughout his training and the race day itself, Mike raised a total of over £600 for St Oswald’s Hospice. As COP29 approaches, we will be sharing fascinating facts and figures pulled from Nick Turner's recent paper on the benefits of adopting the Circular Economy in property repairs. The Circular Economy is a system based on the reuse and regeneration of materials. In his paper, Nick highlights how the UK could reduce global CO2 emissions from building materials by 38% in 2050, by reducing demand for building materials such as metals, concrete, glass, plasterboard, plastic, timber, ceramics, insulation and packaging. A great overview of global tax incentives, covering how they work, the benefit to Producers and therefore local and overseas economies. This is quite poignant since the UK is transitioning from a tax rebate to a tax credit incentive, the benefit of which is now realised as a reduced tax liability during tax returns as opposed to the prior ‘cash refund’. It is early days as far as the UK’s newest incentive (AVEC) is concerned and it remains to be seen whether Producers favour this versus the old schemes… AVEC plays a vital role in maintaining the UK as having one of the largest and most successful filming industries across the globe, ranking third after the US and China based on total film output of 316 movies (2023) and global box office sales of around $2,416,778,716.00 (2023)
