We're gearing up for this special event - but we only just realised that the clocks⏰ go back at 2am on the day. Not ideal. We're going to update our reminder email for attendees to give them a heads up in case they don't know. We use an integrated events booking system in our wix.com website which is very easy to use. Fingers crossed no one will miss out...but we've been caught out a few times ourselves so let's see. #clocksgoback #photography #gallery

We're shouting about The Noisy Valley this week as we prepare for a visit by comics artist Myfanwy Tristram! Myfanwy's graphic novel in progress was short listed for The First Graphic Novel prize and it features stories of resistance and protest from the community here in the Rhondda. She'll be talking about this unique project along with some of the 'protesters' and sharers of stories. Join us at this special Artist Talk event - register here: https://lnkd.in/eZnfrQGf #GraphicNovel #gallery #Rhondda #art

Two iconic photographers are coming to Ynyshir for a conversation - and you're invited. Daniel Meadows & Martin Parr will be in the Rhondda talking about their show - June Street, 1973 - here at the Workers Gallery - among other things of course! It's a great opportunity to see our creative community up close and you'll be helping us to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Tickets: https://lnkd.in/edTz5Rq8 #photography #gallery #Wales

Do you remember our Workers Mates supporters scheme?

I've been revisiting some of my designs used on the Workers Mates mugs over the past 10 years. Originally the Workers Gallery had a 'supporters' annual subscription which came with a free mug called Workers Mates (of course!). The mugs were always designed by me and inspired by the village of Ynyshir - where the gallery is located. This was a popular wrap around design featuring iconic and recognisable buildings including the Girls & Boys Club, The Bakehouse & the Spud n Strawbs. The scheme transferred over to different form on Patreon as it was easier to administer. The annual mugs tradition ended due to the increased postage costs and losses because of breakages. Folks still ask about them today though. I wonder if I should do a special design for the Workers Gallery 10th anniversary next month? Do folks still collect mugs? #mugs #design #Wales

We are delighted to be welcoming Myfanwy Nixon back to the gallery next month for an artist talk. Her 'The Noisy Valley' captures stories and memories of protest from the Rhondda valley AKA the noisy valley. The gallery was itself born out of protest - so if you'd like to find out more about our story and Myf's stories then join us on 12 October. Tickets now available via our website. #ArtistTalk #artist #GraphicNovel #Rhondda #Wales

We're gearing up for the announcement of our next 'In Conversation' event!

I can't believe it's been a year since these two wonderful gentlemen came together at the Music Palace in Ynyshir! It was so heartwarming to hear Michael Sheen and David Hurn talk about David's photography - including his 'The Valleys' exhibition (that was in in the Workers Gallery, Ynyshir) and what working in Wales means to him. Organising and leading the event was a real honour - but I simply could not have done it without so many volunteers helping - through the gallery and at the Music Palace. Of course without David's and Michael's generosity & folks turning up - it would never have happened at all. I'm just finishing off the preparations for my next 'In Conversation' event for the Workers Gallery. Again I'm working closely with the speakers and volunteers. I can't wait to start promoting what promises to be a fabulous event! It's wonderful to bring people together to talk about creativity and share their work with others.
