🙌 Pupils in Newtownabbey get inspired about local STEM careers during NI Science Festival 2025 Workplus was delighted to be working alongside THRIVE to help shine a light on local STEM careers during #NISF25. CDE Group and firmus energy visited local primary schools in Newtownabbey to inspire local pupils about the exciting STEM careers that are on their doorstep. Thanks so much to Olga Pollock, Chartered MCIPD, Tara Coll and Alex Humphrey for taking the time to talk to the pupils. It’s exciting to think of the impact this could make on future career choices for these pupils and it’s clear to see the schools enjoyed the presentations….. ‘Last week Alex from CDE Group visited our school and spoke to both year 7 classes about his job as an engineer. The talk was excellent and Alex had brought some visuals to do a practical and prepared a very informative PowerPoint. The children were really engaged and asked lots of interesting questions. He did inspire them and they learnt about what a career in engineering could involve.’ P7 teachers, Whitehouse Primary school ‘‘The children enjoyed learning about job opportunities and careers in engineering from the talk from Firmus Energy. It was great to have Tara, a student engineer there to chat about girls going into engineering and other STEM careers. The talk was informative and interesting, with some great discussion points afterwards. P7 teacher, Abbotts Cross Primary School ‘Thank you for arranging for Olga and Andy from Firmus to come in and have a chat with the year 7s. They really enjoyed it.’ Vice Principal, ST James Primary School 👏Well done to everyone involved!
