Neven Kolarić, General Manager for Croatia and Bulgaria & Founding Partner of ExCEEd Orphan, highlighted extraordinary value of innovation in the field of rare diseases, bringing hope to patients and their caregivers... Rare diseases are part of social responsibility, as UN quoted, so World Health Innovation Day is an amazing opportunity to address rare diseases as important pillar of societies, where embracing innovations through social compact and faster access can change the course of life and care. "For us, being a torchbearer of health innovation means being a leader in enabling the application of advanced therapeutic solutions that change the lives of patients. Our mission is to represent innovative medicines for the treatment of rare diseases, enabling patients to have access to the latest achievements in medical science and significantly improving their quality of life.   Changing the horizons of innovation, especially in the field of rare diseases, requires a strong collaboration with health professionals and a constant commitment to improving the quality of life of patients. Working with innovative medicines is a challenge because these treatments are new and unknown, which often requires additional efforts in education and adaptation. However, the reward is immeasurable when the patient begins to show signs of recovery and improvement. Through partnership with doctors and other healthcare professionals, we continue to implement advanced therapies that bring real changes to patients' lives, giving them hope and the possibility for a better tomorrow." One month to go until World Health Innovation Day, an annual celebration of the people, organisations and community groups who help empower people to support their own health and wellbeing. Incredibly proud to be one of the founding partners of this inaugural event, alongside Gareth Presch, founder of World Health Innovation Summit CIC, and Gordon Miller, founder of Ride For Freedom. Together, we’re working towards empowering everyone to experience the benefits that movement can bring all year round. The recent World Health Organisation report confirmed that adult physical inactivity levels have reached an all-time high, with the world’s leading researcher into movement and mental health and RED supporter, Dr Brendon Stubbs, sharing that the figures will be much higher than reported due to the nature of the research. World Health Innovation Day is one way for us all to come together to take action and engage people in community sports and physical activity. This years event is on Saturday 3rd August. 👟 Do you have an existing Saturday event you could create a real moment around to help grow your community in support and strength? 👟 Could you host something for your community group on that day? Step here for more information, including resources 👉https://lnkd.in/eGkFG3-d

Gareth Presch is in London this week working with partners to mobilise capital to implement the global goals, leave no-one behind and delover health for all. London is the financial capital of the world 🌏🌍🌎 It’s important we highlight the challenges and OPPORTUNITIES for health and climate during London Climate Action Week The cost of achieving the ambitious sustainable development targets is estimated at between $5.4 and $6.4 trillion per year between now and 2030 ref: UN The global cost of climate change damage is estimated to be between $1.7 trillion and $3.1 trillion per year by 2050. This includes the cost of damage to infrastructure, property, agriculture, and human health. This cost is expected to increase over time as the impacts of climate change become more severe. Research shows that 3.6 billion people already live in areas highly susceptible to climate change. Ref: WHO 75% of the Infrastructure That Will Exist in 2050 Doesn’t Exist Today. From transportation to flood protection, much of the world’s infrastructure will be built or overhauled in the coming decades. Ref: ICLEI Up to 3.5 billion people – almost half the world's population lack basic access to healthcare. World Health Service is offering a way to invest in creating a sustainable model of healthcare and deliver health for all, leaving no-one behind. The investment will help to build out the #WHIS model which is based on combining human, social, and structural capital by creating a knowledge transfer platform that exists to support the health economies around the world. #HealthForAll #SDGs #WHIS

Astronaut, Aquanaut, Physician, Scientist, Explorer, Director - IIAS Space Medicine Group.

TODAY IS THE DAY. 🚀🚀🚀 After 9 years with the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences (IIAS), 10 research parabolic flights, 2 aquanaut missions, a running tally of EVA/IVA spacesuit evaluations, water operations, neutral buoyancy lab runs and austere environment expeditions- and incredible teammates - today I embark upon what I know I was born to do. I am delighted to share that I have been named IIAS Astronaut 002 on the IIAS-02 Suborbital Research Mission, to fly aboard the Virgin Galactic Delta class of spacecraft as it becomes operational in the coming years. Better yet, I get to do it with the best teammates anyone could ask for, two phenomenal women I have worked closely with for years, Kellie Gerardi & Dr. Norah Patten, with a view towards furthering space-based biomedical & physiological research. It is not lost on me that I am the 1st named Canadian female commercial astronaut, and the 4th Indian origin female astronaut. These communities have shaped who I am, and I promise to do you proud. 👩🏽🚀🚀🏥🇨🇦🇮🇳 #space #science #astronaut #astronautics #medicine #spacemedicine #spaceflight #humanspaceflight #commercialspaceflight #research #discover #discovery #explore #exploration #pushthelimits #daretoexplore #beextreme #womeninstem #canada #canadianastronaut #india #indianastronaut
