British Council for Offices: Brooklands Tour A Net Zero Carbon office building seems an impossible ideal but, it has been realised in building B2 at Brooklands workplace campus. Designed by Allies and Morrison for Wrenbridge and M&G Real Estate it surpasses the 2025 RIBA Climate Challenge and LETI 2030 space heating and cooling targets. As impressive is the way in which the development has happened in a densely residential area which has presented its own challenges: Storing materials away from site 🧱 Transport access limited to areas which don’t affect local residents 🚚 Monitoring and restriction on noise and vibration levels 🔇 Regular and open communication with local community 🗣️ It was great to see the consideration which has been taken in the design and implementation throughout the process. Now, this is the kind of project I like to see! An adaptive reuse project in Oxford has made UK history, achieving the first-ever perfect BREEAM score of 100%. CMP Architects Ltd took on the challenge of transforming a forgotten site into a lab with sustainable features like EV chargers, rooftop solar panels, and green-roofed bike shelters. With Wrenbridge and Buccleuch driving the project and Eight Versa guiding the BREEAM compliance, they've surpassed the previous record-holder in the Netherlands.
