Manufacturer of the World's First Zero-Emission Hydrogen Double Deck Bus #DrivingAGreenerFuture.

About us

For over 75 years, as a family-run business, we’ve helped people reach their destinations all over the world. We’ve built iconic vehicles that have defined transport and added character to our cities and towns including the StreetCar in Las Vegas and the New Routemaster in London. And now, after the successful launch of our groundbreaking zero emission product line we are carrying passengers into a cleaner future. We remain the only British manufacture that manufacturers both single and double deck battery and fuel cell electric buses. Together with Queens University Belfast, we have an ability to carry out a range of academic-backed modelling analysis which is highly accurate, detailed and forms a key principle in the recommendation of the suggested battery capacity and vehicle performance. Under Jo Bamford’s leadership, Wrightbus is embarking on a new trajectory of innovation and environmental awareness. Just as with our Hydrogen bus, we’re applying new energy solutions to help our vehicles meet their zero-emission targets. We are also creating more green economy UK jobs across our UK centric supply chain for our zero-emission buses. For the world that has been waiting on greener buses, they have arrived.

We had a fantastic meeting yesterday at the NewPower base in Bicester. Senior team members from @Wrightbus, First Bus, NewPower UK and AllServiceOne met together for a day of inspiring and challenging idea sharing and thought provoking industry insights.   Wrightbus CEO Jean-Marc Gales hosted the event and welcomed senior team members from each company for briefings and breakout sessions around our shared vision for a greener future, supporting UK manufacturing and green jobs.   The NewPower factory provided the perfect backdrop for discussions around the decarbonisation of public transport, and allowed the First Bus team to take a first hand look at the progress of their recent order. Their initial order of 32 buses being repowered by NewPower are currently working their way through production having their diesel engines replaced with new zero-emission electric powertrains.
Collectively, when the 32 re-powered Zero Emission Buses enter service, they will eliminate 2,100 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.   Thank you to First Group, AllServiceOne and NewPower for a very worthwhile and enjoyable day.   #Wrightbus #DrivingAGreenerFuture #FirstBus #NewPower #AllServiceOne #Decarbonisation #RePoweredBus #ElectricBus #PublicTransport

Wrightbus are delighted to announce the appointment of James Hamill as Director of Human Resources, as our workforce continues to expand on the back of a bulging order book. James has joined our team from global manufacturing firm Linamar, where he headed up HR for the European region which has 19 different production facilities. The appointment is a return to his roots for James, who was born and raised a stone’s throw from the Wrightbus headquarters in Ballymena. “The big draw in joining Wrightbus was the opportunity of doing something in my hometown. It’s about bringing the pride of manufacturing back to Ballymena. The The town has a proud manufacturing history, but it has been scarred by closures in the past. We have grown rapidly in a very short space of time, and now we need to make sure we have the right people for the right jobs.” Wrightbus CEO Jean-Marc Gales has added his welcome: We are delighted to welcome James to the Wrightbus team. His experience in large manufacturing is exactly what we need as we continue to expand our workforce and business as a whole. #Wrightbus #Wasserstoff #Wasserstoffcluster #Wasserstoffkernnetz  _____________________ Great hydrogen news for Germany! Yesterday, the 9,040-kilometre hydrogen core network was approved by the Federal Network Agency. This is the first step towards establishing a Germany-wide hydrogen infrastructure. The pipelines will gradually go into operation from 2025 and then until 2032. The investment will costs around 18.9 billion euros.   The aim is to connect all key hydrogen production, import and consumption points in Germany - including all future hydrogen clusters. Regional and local hydrogen projects are grouped together in these clusters, for example in industrial or business parks.   This is excellent news for Wrightbus and our sister company Ryze Power GmbH as we are supporting our customers in Germany on their way to a green future. “As one of the leading hydrogen bus manufacturers in Europe, we at Wrightbus are shaping the transformation to zero-emission local transport together with our customers,” emphasizes Wrightbus CEO Jean-Marc Gales.   60 percent of the future hydrogen core network in Germany will consist of pipelines that are being converted from gas to hydrogen. 40 percent will be newly built.   #Wrightbus #DrivingAGreenerFuture #Hydrogen #HydrogenCluster #HydrogenCoreNetwork Ryze Hydrogen
