If you're not making noise about yourself, how do you expect to get noticed as a medical writer? Here are my 3 favourite ways to grab the attention of your future clients: 1. Comment on LinkedIn posts - not just "well done" or "congrats!" - be thoughtful, add your opinion or experience to start a conversation to show how you respond to people in public. (Bonus points if you add humour!) 2. Record a video saying who you are and what you do - a video shows people you are a "real person" - if you had 2 minutes to prove you're the person someone is looking for, what would you say? Upload this video to YouTube and add it to your "featured" section on LinkedIn and on your website. 3. Write a LinkedIn post once a week - write about something you recently learnt, share a client testimonial or a story from your life related to how you work. Showing that you are actively learning and doing good work makes people want to learn from you or work with you. How do you like to shout about yourself :) Lots of love, Virginia Chachati xx #MedicalWriter #MedicalWriting

Where Do Scientific Writers Work (Besides Pharma)? When people think of scientific writing jobs, they usually think pharma. And while pharma does hire a ton of writers, it’s far from the only industry that needs clear, effective science communication. If you’re exploring scientific writing roles, here are other industries and companies to consider: - 💄 Cosmetic & Skincare Companies – Brands like L'Oréal, Procter & Gamble, and Unilever need science writers to create regulatory documents, R&D reports, and consumer education materials. - ⚙️ Medical Device Companies – Companies like Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and Siemens Healthineers hire writers for regulatory submissions, clinical evidence reports, and product documentation. - 🏛️ Nonprofits & Think Tanks – Science-focused nonprofits like AAAS or Gates Foundation need grant writers, policy communicators, and science storytellers. - 📚 Publishing & Journals – Academic publishers like Springer Nature, Elsevier, and Wiley hire editors, reviewers, and science communicators. If you’re looking for scientific writing jobs, don’t limit your search to pharma. There are opportunities everywhere—find the niche that works for you. 🔍 Your turn: What’s one industry people don’t usually associate with scientific writing, but should? Let’s discuss below! 👇 #ScientificWriting #PhDToIndustry
