Earlier this week we were delighted to host another Yes Futures #WorldofWork Day with a group of Year 9 students from Essex. Highlights of the day included a speed-dating session with volunteers from across the practice, a design workshop where the students were encouraged to create a building based on a real Hawkins\Brown brief, and of course, pizza for lunch! Encouraging young people to engage in the built environment and pursue architectural careers is hugely important to us. After all, who are we designing for if not future generations? Well done to all the students for their hard work and enthusiasm! 🙌 #csr #outreach #architectureoutreach #careers #workexperience #designcareers

  • Last Tuesday, 16 Year 10 students from Passmores Academy visited Yes Futures' long-standing partner, Reed Smith LLP, in their new East London office. The students were introduced to several Reed Smith colleagues within the organisation with varying roles and did a speed networking activity to find out a bit more about them. They were then asked to do a Dragon’s Den-style pitch on an innovative new product after some quick group collaboration. This tested their four Talent areas as they needed to communicate confidently, whilst being aware of their teammates and being resilient enough to give it a go! The students thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience and some were inspired to look into how to become a lawyer in the future. Thank you to Carole and Reed Smith for a fantastic day!

  • Last Thursday, 12 Year 5 students from Lansdowne Primary Academy and Tilbury Pioneer Academy visited Yes Futures' long-standing partner, ZS Associates, in their beautiful central London office. The students were introduced to consulting and the skills required and collaborated in groups to solve a business problem. They then used their communication and confidence skills to pitch their creative ideas to their client. The students also learned about the healthcare industry and had a lot of fun interviewing some wonderful ZS staff about their current roles and their careers. This trip was a brilliant opportunity for our younger students to continue to build important soft skills and understand more about the world of work.

  • Last Tuesday, 10 Year 8 students from Hoe Valley School (Woking) visited Yes Futures' long-standing partner, Havas, in their incredible King's Cross office hub. The students learned about the world of Media and PR and had an extensive tour around the offices, which provided them with an insight into a modern-day office, the different agencies and departments and the opportunities available to employees. They also used their creativity, teamwork and communication skills to design a campaign and pitch it to a panel of expert judges. Students left feeling inspired and understanding more about the industry and their routes into future careers.

  • As part of the Finding Futures Programme, students from Holme Grange School joined St. James’s Place for an inspiring World of Work day. The students got to take part in a variety of different activities over the course of the day. The day was kickstarted with a fun quiz to learn about the work that St James’s Place does, which led to a fun-filled quiz to learn some interesting facts about the financial world. Students then got to take part in a quick-fire speed networking activity where students got to ask a range of St James’s Place employees all about their roles and their career journeys. After lunch, students had the opportunity to go on a tour of their offices and have a go at using St James’s Place’s VR training headsets. The day then wrapped up with a team building tower building challenge. After some final reflections to identify student learnings, we said our thank yous and hopped on the coach back to school. A huge thank you to St. James’s Place for hosting such a brilliant day.

  • Last Thursday, 12 students from Herringham Primary Academy and The Gateway Primary Free School visited the incredible offices of Tata Consultancy Services in Central London. They completed a wonderful array of activities, such as Speed Networking with employees, a tour of the office space and learned about Design Thinking. The students then took part in a workshop to create solutions to sustainability problems in their communities and schools, proudly sharing their ideas with each other. A truly inspirational day that enabled them to think about technology and their ideas for the future.
