An integrative approach to cancer care, combining conventional treatments with such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, with Integrative Medicine  (lifestyle and complementary therapies), to broaden patient choice, increase patient engagement, improve quality of life and extend survival. A holistic perspective, aims to enhance the body's natural defences and improve overall well-being.  Key elements of this approach can include: 🔸 NUTRITION: Emphasising a diet rich in anti-inflammatory and nutrient-dense foods. 🔹DETOXIFICATION: Reducing the body's toxic burden through various means. 🔸STRESS MANAGEMENT: Incorporating techniques to manage stress, which can impact immune function. 🔹PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Encouraging regular exercise to support overall health. It’s a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario that has its roots in the patient perspective. Dagmara Beine is a parent who has ensured her daughter, diagnosed with cancer tragically young, has become an exceptional survivor.  To achieve this, she has taken a deep dive into the science of Integrative Oncology, enabling her also to now share her findings with other families facing similar difficulties in the form of a new book, 'A Parent’s Guide to Childhood Cancer: Supporting Your Child with Integrative Therapies Based on a Metabolic Approach.’ This is a genuine ‘first’ emerging into an ongoing disaster in which, as the incidence of cancer in young people is rising steeply, parents and children are being “wildly underserved” by conventional healthcare services.  This new book makes a bold beginning towards addressing this situation by collecting together a broad range of well-researched resources for all the main challenges that families are likely to face following a child’s diagnosis. One of the primary benefits of incorporating juices into a holistic cancer care regimen lies in their nutritional richness.
