Back in 2020, Ncuti Gatwa, the new Doctor and star of #SexEducation, wrote an exclusive piece in the #BigIssue about his experiences, including a period of #sofasurfing whilst working in London. A vital reminder that #homelessness can happen to anyone, but most importantly, that homelessness doesn't define you. It's an experience, not a forever. ❤️ With your help, we can end #homelessness for hundreds of Londoners this #Christmas. Our Coaches Bianca Fogah and Edie McCartney went to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Disability Confident Forum! We chatted about recruitment, EDI, and an overview of what Disability Confidence offers in terms of accessibility and inclusivity. It was lovely to meet up with Southdown St Mungo's, Amaze Sussex as well as DWP staff and others!

A RECORD number of children - nearly 139,000 - will wake up on Christmas morning homeless and in temporary accommodation. 🎥 That’s why last week we launched our ‘Dear Santa’ installation, to highlight the heartbreaking number of children wishing for a home. Actor Mandip Gill came down, and explains more.

In the last year, 41% of employees have experienced poor mental health. Where they work has been a contributing factor. There’s a growing need to support mental health in the workplace. But where do you start and how do you know when you’re making a positive impact on your employees? This is where the Mental Health at Work Commitment comes in. Read more here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gCEcFYXF Please share this with your contacts who may work in HR, workplace wellbeing, or own a small business. Together we can improve mental health at work 💙

We've launched our new supported self-help service, a guided support programme to help people understand and manage their mental health. This is part of a national service, developed by Mind, and we are the only local Mind on the South Coast currently offering this service. Supported self-help is a six-week programme of guided support and is for anyone over 18 who is suffering with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, isolation, anger, grief and loss, or menopause. It is suitable for anyone who feels their emotions are getting on top of them and is another route to help us reach more people who need our help. Leanne Challen, our head of mental health services, said: “We are excited to offer this new service and have recruited additional mental health practitioners to support this. Supported self-help will allow us to reach more people with mild mental health problems and it’s a great early intervention to prevent difficulties escalating. It will also empower people to understand and feel more in control of their thoughts and feelings and is flexible in terms of when people can get support to fit in with their work and other priorities." As temperatures plummet this week you might be thinking about how you could help people who are sleeping rough. There are lots of opportunities to volunteer at St Mungo’s at the moment. Want to find out more? We have a winter event coming up next Tuesday the 5 December. It will be a great opportunity to find out about how we work with people in the cold weather and how you could volunteer too. Clients and staff members recently had the chance to take part in the first EVOLVE workshop co-facilitated by a client! Connie and Emma worked in partnership to create a safe space for everyone to explore and express their relationship with their own body and made a fantastic little book full of precious resources. Connie had this to say - "It was a really valuable experience for me, not only in terms of boosting my confidence but also because it meant a lot to me to have a space to discuss that topic with others. I'm very grateful to EVOLVE for the opportunity and grateful to everyone who came!" #EVOLVE #YMCABrighton #Training #Workshops #Cofacilitation #homelessnesscharity
