How you define success is completely dictated by your funding model. When you are VC backed - you're an investment. It's very much expected that you hit specific targets, achieve certain parameters. And in those circumstances, luckily, you have the cash flow to help you (attempt to) get there. When you're bootstrapping - it's a completely different story. For us, success for the first several years was simple. Don't fail. Stay in business. Keep the lights on. Be able to pay the team. In hindsight, we can look back and know that those years of scarcity would absolutely pay off. But sometimes, just surviving is the biggest and most impactful goal you can achieve.

Remember being thirteen, and EVERYTHING was SO embarrassing? Thankfully, we out-grow the worst of that phase. But deep inside, many people still carry that fear of embarrassment.  So, when it comes to trying out a new skill - it’s nerve-wracking! And so much worse if it’s amongst strangers… And overcoming those fears, when it comes to learning a new language, can feel impossible. That fear, those nerves, that scary little voice in your head… Don’t need to be so bad.
