Become part of the YUAF success story! Commission us so we can provide more young people with opportunities, just like Atlanta. Atlanta was 16 when she started her journey with us. She said she felt lost and suffered from poor mental health. YUAF went to her estate and positively impacted her life through our creative workshops, providing access to programmes, opportunities and networks, which helped her to make more informed life choices and enabled her to do the things she loves. She’s now 22 and has graduated from University, continuing to explore a diverse range of creative pursuits. However, there are more young people like Atlanta who need our help. Please consider partnering with YUAF so we can continue doing great work. We'd love to discuss a partnership, drop us a email at info@yuaf.org.uk #partnership #charity #community #support #london #youthwork

About us
Young Urban Arts Foundation’s mission is to empower the lives of young people by strengthening mental well-being and building opportunities through creativity, ensuring every young person is seen, heard & celebrated. Throughout our 12 years, we have helped over 18,000 young people and are known for delivering both empowering and creative outreach workshops in hard-to-reach areas where young people are at high-risk of child exploitation, being a victim of crime or do not have access to opportunities. Our charity’s programmes are designed around prevention and built to drive creativity. Our multimedia bus workshops, which we take into communities, provides a safe and exciting space to inspire and build young people’s confidence. Our online workshops offer young people a way to feel connected and express their feelings and emotions in artistic and creative ways. We also deliver our programmes to schools, community centres and youth hubs. Working with partners, we provide young people with opportunities to gain further training or work experience, allowing them to build a long-term rapport and support system.

We’re proud to announce that Amplify and Seed have now partnered up with the Young Urban Arts Foundation (YUAF) as our new charity partner 💚. Founded by Kerry O'Brien, one of the first female drum and bass MCs in the UK, the organisation targets young people in hard to reach communities and provides them with training, mentorship and career enhancing opportunities. For one of their outreach programmes, they’ve kitted out a double-decker bus as a media studio, which they drive to these at-risk neighbourhoods, offering the youth a safe space that enables them to empower their creativity through lyric writing, music production and podcasting. Earlier this week, we had the privilege of welcoming the amazing YUAF team to our Shoreditch office for an inspiring ‘Lunch and Learn’ session, where we deepened our understanding of their mission and explored ways we can support them in making a lasting impact. All in all, it was an insightful session that left us optimistic about the positive change YUAF is fostering within the community. As an agency immersed in youth culture, collaborating with YUAF seems like a natural extension of our commitment to amplifying young voices and empowering the next generation of creatives.

Wrapping up Libraries Week with a highlights reel from our Inclusive Libraries conference. We know that when children see themselves in books, they are more likely to read for pleasure and this, in turn, improves academic performance and supports good wellbeing. Diverse libraries are vital. They provide young people with a safe space to discover their identities, build empathy, and explore cultures beyond their own. In September, we teamed up with the The British Library and Lit in Colour (Penguin Random House) to explore race, culture, and identity in children's and young people's libraries. Literacy is for everyone, and librarians should be empowered to create spaces where diverse voices are heard and celebrated. Keynote speeches from the Inclusive Libraries conference can be viewed for free on our website: https://lnkd.in/enQSkZkX Supported by Arts Council England.

New research highlights a bleak outlook on youth homelessness in the capital. Conducted by Depaul UK with support from London Councils and released today on World Homeless Day, the study reveals alarming insights. 44% of the respondents said they had slept rough for more than 30 nights during the three months prior to the data being collected (between April and July of this year). 15% disclosed that they had been younger than 18 when they first experienced rough sleeping. 28% of the respondents surveyed were not included in the official statistics released quarterly by the Combined Homelessness and Information Network (CHAIN), suggesting that the number of young people experiencing homelessness is much higher than official data suggests. These findings underscore the urgent need for targeted interventions and policy reforms to address the hidden challenges faced by London’s vulnerable youth population. #YouthSupport #WorldHomelessDay #London #Youth #Charity #Research

This year's Black History Month theme is "Reclaiming Narratives," representing a meaningful shift toward acknowledging and rectifying the narratives surrounding Black history and culture. By focusing on "Reclaiming Narratives," we illuminate the stories, allegories, and historical experiences. This theme emphasizes a dedication to correcting historical inaccuracies and highlighting untold success stories, reflecting the full richness of Black heritage. It’s about owning the narratives, celebrating the heroes, and challenging the stories that have frequently neglected the contributions and accomplishments of Black individuals in the UK and around the world. #ReclaimingNarratives #BlackHistoryMonth2024 #BHM2024 #Celebration #BlackHistory #BlackCulture
