Never has self-care been as important as it is today. Higher lifestyle demands on time, skills and focus are literally draining away physical, mental & emotional wellbeing.
And for many women self-care goes on the back burner, recognised as important yet not important enough to be prioritised over all the other commitments that show up in life.
How do we break this destructive cycle that often leads to high stress levels, burnout or worse?
1. Raise Self-Awareness - Beliefs, Habits & Mindset
2. Begin The Self-Alignment Process - Identify Values, Reframe Beliefs
3. And Create A Healthy Action Plan - Practical Application

Are you living in scarcity or abundance?
In a world where time seems like a fleeting resource, we can too easily end up running on empty, feeling as though there isn’t enough time to meet our personal needs, to slow down and simply be.
This scarcity mindset, often rooted in fear, leads to a cycle of neglect, where #SelfCare becomes something to postpone rather than prioritise. Is it any wonder health is in crisis?

Guiding midlife women back to the most important relationship of their lives; with themselves through the art of self-care.
Midlife & Thriving October Newsletter is Out!
This month, we're diving into a question that resonates deeply with many of us around the Selfishness of self-care.
Self-care is often framed as selfish, however, in this edition, we explore why prioritising ourselves is essential for longevity, connection, optimal health, and achieving our life goals.
It's about challenging the guilt and shame so many of us feel and reframing self-care as a vital practice that fuels everything else in our lives.
I’m thrilled to share that this month’s video chat features the incredible Helen Gormley MEd, MA (Ed), FRSA, Helen Gormley Wellbeing.
Together we discuss the myths around self-care, her personal journey, the shifts we need to make as individuals, the conversations we need to be having across industries and the solutions we need to be creating in society to protect ourselves from deepening health issues.
Let's reclaim the power of self-care and thrive together... x

Guiding midlife women back to the most important relationship of their lives; with themselves through the art of self-care.
Last week, we explored how the Controller saboteur keeps us stuck in the 'I’m Not Enough' story, reinforcing the need to control situations and others to feel secure. This week, we will revisit the same barrier, but through the lens of the Hyper-Achiever.
The Hyper-Achiever: “I Am Not Enough Without Success!
The Hyper-Achiever ties our worth to external success, making us believe that we are only “enough” when we achieve. While accomplishments are important, when the Hyper-Achiever is in control, it can leave us feeling hollow, constantly seeking validation through more success.
Together, we will share our experiences and discuss strategies to disconnect our self-worth from external validation, empowering us to find fulfilment beyond the next achievement.
Ready to explore the lies of the Hyper-Achiever and reclaim your inner peace? Join us! Thursday 3rd October 12:30 PM 😊
Reclaiming Self-Worth: Moving Beyond the Measure of Service to Others
Give, just give, keep giving, don’t even consider stopping the giving…
What do you think you end up with?
Exhaustion.
High stress levels.
Burnout.
Health dis-ease.
It’s not an exaggeration.
It’s not insignificant quantities of people who end up on this route.
It is incredibly damaging to health, confidence, performance and life experience.
Kindness is a gift.
Helping others is a gift.
Having the capacity to do both at a high level of ‘being’ is a joy.
Sadly, there are too many people, women in particular (see the stats in the article) who are not experiencing the joy state.
Why? Because they keep giving when they themselves are depleted.
Sadly, the analogy of pouring from an empty cup hasn’t hit the mark and many are suffering, often in silence, with a sense of resignation.
There are no winners when the constant pouring is no longer possible due to physical, emotional & mental health challenges.
WE need to do better. WE need to prioritise #SelfWorth, self-value & #SelfCare to ensure we are able to pour from an 'overflowing source' (thank you Lucy Buxton, my guest this month, for this imagery) so that everyone benefits, others are inspired and more gets done through the power of togetherness.

An impromptu post... As part of a leadership program I am currently on, I had to ask a number of people in my life what they thought my unique skills & attributes are. To get a good mix, I reached out to family, friends, mentors & peers.
Such beautiful messages already received and this one, tugged at my heart. Words of kindness gratefully received... You know who you are, and thank you 🙏🏿
I am incredibly privileged to call Yvonne not just my friend, but also my coach, my colleague, and my role model.
Over the past 10 plus years that we have known each other, Yvonne has been a constant source of joy and inspiration in my life. She has an infectious positivity that brightens any room, and her energy is uplifting without ever being overwhelming.
Yvonne has a unique ability to make those around her feel valued and heard, a true testament to her remarkable listening skills.
Yvonne’s support and open-mindedness are unparalleled. She approaches every situation with a genuine curiosity and a willingness to understand different perspectives, which makes her not just a great friend but also an exceptional coach.
Her advice is always thoughtful, and she empowers others to find their own path rather than imposing her views. This is a rare and invaluable quality that makes her guidance all the more meaningful.
Yvonne’s influence in my life has been profound, and I am really grateful.

Is the "Nice Girl" running your show?
You might not even realise it, but she's been quietly influencing your life—getting in the way of your self-care, professional growth, and personal happiness.
From the moment she was created, the "Nice Girl" learned to strive for perfection: always accommodating, always saying yes, always doing what others expect, even when it doesn't feel right.
Over time, she grows into the "Perfectly Nice Woman," then into the "People Pleaser," slowly detaching from her own needs.
In Positive Intelligence, we call this the Pleaser Saboteur. It’s that voice urging you to gain acceptance and affection by endlessly helping, rescuing, and pleasing others.
On the surface, it seems kind, but beneath, it erodes your confidence and well-being.
For many women, this Pleaser Saboteur has become a constant companion, deeply embedded in every thought, feeling, and action—a second skin.
But that skin is suffocating, leading to burnout, resentment, and a profound loss of self-worth.
But what if you could rewrite this story?
Imagine:
* Reclaiming your power by setting healthy boundaries.
* Focusing on your needs with as much care as you give to others.
* Cultivating self-compassion and self-respect.
All of this, without abandoning your kindness. Because kindness doesn’t mean self-sacrifice. Your worth is not tied to somersaults and backflips to meet everyone else's demands. You are so much more than that.
I’m #Curious... Have you noticed the Pleaser Saboteur in your life? How have you started to address it?
Your experiences and insights could be the spark that helps another woman reclaim her power. Share them in the comments below.
And if you’d like to explore more, subscribe to my monthly newsletter—Midlife & Thriving. This month, I had an inspiring conversation with Claudia C Binder about the "Nice Girl Syndrome." We shared stories and strategies on how to reclaim our power, drop the nice-pleasing girl persona, and prioritise self-care—guilt and shame-free!

Breaking Free from the "Nice Girl" Myth...
Welcome to the August Edition of Midlife & Thriving!
Let's talk 'niceness'...
Nice… "Pleasing and agreeable in nature. Having a pleasant or attractive appearance. Exhibiting courtesy and politeness"
Oh, to be that nice girl!
Nicely spoken, nicely dressed, nice to everyone, never says no, just so very pleasing...
And more than anything, she is nicely kept in line.
Yes, being nice, is a thing and for many women, it has been drummed into them since day dot.
Now it's time to do something about it...

Whilst National Relaxation Day originated in the US, its importance has been felt across the globe and so, here we are, in the UK, taking a moment to acknowledge Relaxation Day and talk about the importance of relaxing. This morning I am joined by Vicki Holtom, Living Nutrition & Reiki Practitioner.
