Yesterday, the High Level Segment of #COP16Colombia began with inspiring addresses including UN’s Secretary General, Antonio Guterres: "No country, rich or poor, is immune to the devastation inflicted by climate change and pollution. These crises are intertwined and know no borders." 🌎 The next few days are vital to forge global action to accelerate efforts to restore, protect, conserve and sustainably use the environment and make #PeaceWithNature. 7️⃣ ways we're restoring nature: https://ow.ly/ogIq50TWb5L UN Biodiversity Photo by IISD/ENB | Mike Muzurakis

🤲 Supporting local communities is vital for long-term positive impacts on biodiversity to achieve #PeaceWithNature. Through our EDGE of Existence project's community-led conservation, we support aspiring conservationists in becoming experts in their field and taking the lead in researching and conserving species that are close to extinction. Three Colombian of our EDGE Fellows joined our other experts at the #COPofthePeople We asked them what it means to have UN Biodiversity's #ColombiaCOP16 in their home country. 🦎 Dr Liliana Patricia Saboyá Acosta. “Colombia is my home and conducting my project here allows me to help conserve its rich natural heritage. It’s a personal passion and a professional mission, reaffirming my dedication to protecting our country’s unique biodiversity and supporting global conservation efforts.” 🦇 Andrea Natalia Martínez Bulla “This is the opportunity to present Colombia’s contribution and challenges in conservation efforts. It is an opportunity to place Colombia in the eyes of the world, not only for the beauty of our country but also how we are working to conservation within our particular contexts.” 🦜 Mónica Franco Gutiérrez “Colombia’s biodiversity makes it a critical place for this work, and leading this project in my home country is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to preserving our natural heritage.” Click more for profiles and projects: 🦎 Liliana - https://ow.ly/7ltP50TQBJO 🦇 Andrea - https://ow.ly/Yg4P50TQBJP 🦜Monica - https://ow.ly/jFFL50TQBJQ
