We are excited to announce that char.gy has secured a landmark contract to partner with Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. In an industry first, char.gy was chosen for our technical expertise to migrate 950 existing on-street charge points into our network, growing it in size by a third. Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, pioneers in the rollout of extensive on-street charging networks, launched a competitive procurement process for network operators to manage the existing infrastructure following the conclusion of their contracts under GULCS. This new and unique capability has enabled char.gy to demonstrate a valuable third option for councils nearing the end of a contract. Councils can now opt for migration instead of renewing and replacing their existing infrastructure, saving time and costs, ensuring service continuity for drivers, and fostering a marketplace that promotes higher service quality. John Lewis, CEO of char.gy, commented, “We are proud to have been chosen by Richmond and Wandsworth councils as a partner to serve EV drivers across these London boroughs. This is an industry first, and it represents a crucial development in the way EV infrastructure can be rolled out. ⚡ Durham County Council is working in partnership with Zest to provide 250 new charging locations across the county. With forty percent of residents in County Durham not having a driveway, the project aims to help enable those people to choose electric vehicles. We’ve got some exciting news! Today, we’re delighted to announce that Energy Park has secured an initial £35m investment from Zouk Capital, manager of the UK Government’s Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund (CIIF), to accelerate our growth in the UK. With this funding we plan to drive the UK’s adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) by improving access to convenient and affordable EV charging at apartment buildings with communal parking areas. It’s challenging to get EV infrastructure into these communal car parks, which means they’ve so far been largely overlooked, with home driveway and public charging being prioritised – leaving millions of apartment building residents without EV charging facilities. We want to tackle this and make EV ownership an option for everyone, regardless of where you live. For residential landlords, such as housing associations, private landlords and property management companies, we’ll remove many of the financial and operational barriers to large-scale EV infrastructure investment by offering a fully managed and funded scalable solution. And we’ll also be offering tailored EV charging solutions for residential destination operators, such as holiday parks and hotels.
