Investec Capital Services (India) Private Limited (“Investec Capital”), the investment manager of Emerging India Credit Opportunities Fund II (“Fund/ EICOF - II”), is pleased to announce that its second INR private credit fund ‘Emerging India Credit Opportunities Fund II’ achieved its first close earlier this month, with aggregate commitments in excess of INR 6.5 billion. EICOF II will make private credit investments in Indian mid-market corporate groups for end uses typically not amenable to bank finance. Key focus will be on issuers with strong promoter pedigree, corporate governance and robust financial performance. Piyush Gupta Head of Credit Markets, Investec Capital, said, “The exceptionally strong investor response to EIOCF II in an unprecedented timeline for the first close demonstrates the investor recognition and vote of confidence for our solid performance track record of underwriting mid market credit in India for over 10 years including the performance of our maiden Indian private credit fund EICOF I. We remain very positive on the structural opportunity for private credit in India in the coming years.” EICOF – II, a Category II Alternative Investment Fund registered with SEBI, is the successor to Investec Capital’s maiden private credit fund – EICOF I. EICOF I had earlier successfully achieved an AUM of over INR 16 billion including co-investments. EICOF – II’s investment strategy is to make diversified, sector agnostic credit investments.
