, Job Description

Purpose of the role

  • Identify, source, and manage equity investments for IAG’s seed to expansion stage investment programme.
  • Provide analysis in support of individual venture capital deals through the stages of sourcing, creating investment proposals, carrying out due diligence to managing individual portfolio companies.
  • Review and report on various market data sources to inform investment strategies, in partnership with the Head of Ventures, business units and IAG executives, that help bring IAG closer to disruptive and influential start-ups, while building a robust portfolio of diverse investments in the field of airline transformation and ecological sustainability.

Accountabilities

  • Develop an understanding of IAG's business as well as general industry trends to inform opportunities for the CVC investment programme.
  • Work in collaboration with the Hangar 51 Ventures team to develop investment strategies, target identification, source deals and build pipeline, develop investment thesis, present investments to Hangar 51 Ventures Investment Committee.
  • Represent Hangar 51 Ventures in the venture capital and entrepreneurial community.
  • Aggressively network to identify new opportunities as well as build network of trusted, top tier co-investors
  • Support and engage portfolio companies’ founders to maximise each venture success.
  • Manage the deals database to accurately track all companies through their lifecycle.
  • Bring competitors and strategic partners disruptive technology and business changes to the attention of the appropriate senior stakeholders and leadership team
  • This role may require travel and working from multiple sites/locations. Willing and able to travel to participate in meetings, workshops, and other related activities

, Qualifications

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • 1-2 years of previous venture capital, start-up, corporate development, sustainability, finance, or corporate finance experience.
  • Experience of creating or reviewing business reporting.
  • Experience of business process (including technology / financial management etc.).
  • Experience in market research and due diligence preparation.
  • An understanding of equity investments, and demonstrable knowledge of key emerging technology sectors is a benefit.
  • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to think laterally about how to source market information.
  • Strong personal ownership for driving performance and exceeding targets.
  • Relevant degree or MBA is desirable
  • Spoken and written business in English is required, in Spanish would be desirable. Any other second language also a plus.
