Congratulations to Ruby Hendry (2017) on securing this award continue her career with the Royal Northern College of Music.
Following a successful Summer as a Young Artist at Buxton International Festival, I am happy to share that I have been awarded a Sybil Tutton Opera Award from Help Musicians to help fund the second year of my Masters degree at the Royal Northern College of Music. Alongside this I am also generously supported by a scholarship from The Countess of Munster Musical Trust which also goes a long way towards covering the course fees. Both awards are auditioned and extremely competitive and I am grateful to both charities for their support of and belief in my musical journey. I am looking forward to performing the role of Zinnia in RNCM’s December production of L’Etoile (Chabrier).

This morning we welcomed back OB and Yorkshire County cricketer, Will Luxton (2021), who handed out Senior Club Colours to some of our 6th Form students. Pictured below are some of our cricketers, hoping to follow in Will’s footsteps 🏏 #HocAge

It’s Founders Day today and as our School congregates in Bradford Cathedral, we remember how we are built on philanthropy and inclusivity. Our pupils and students gathered this afternoon to celebrate BGS and its heritage, from 1820 and the days when we existed as The Free School of King Charles II, through to 1870 and being one of the first schools to adopt the Forster Education Act reforms; becoming a secular school within the local board of education. Head Boy, Mr James Woodham, reminded us of those who have supported the school to make it what it is today, giving thanks to our benefactors and philanthropists such as Samuel Lister, former Headmaster William Keeling, Douglas Hamilton, Sir Ken Morrison and others. It was also a time to remind our children that they too may walk in the footsteps of fellow Old Bradfordians and want to give back – ensuring that BGS remains a school built on diversity and inclusivity – so that others, regardless of background, may also benefit from the same exemplary education. Founders Day - A day filled with gratitude. Bradford Grammar School #hocage

Last night the 1662 Campaign Ambassadors met in London to discuss the future of fundraising for Assisted Places. The Ambassadors recognised the critical need to sustain and increase the number of talented students at BGS. The fundraising goals will be shared shortly and we’ll be inviting all OBs to support the campaign. We thank BGS bursar Homera Najib for sharing the financial position to enable these next steps.

Do you recognise any of these faces from 1991? This was our Clock House Rugby Team playing their first competitive game against Leeds GS. Thank you to Andrew Foster for sending this in. If you happen to have any old photos from your BGS days, please do send in so we can add them to our archives! Bradford Grammar School #hocage

Alongside our work with the Old Bradfordians, our core focus in Development is raising funds for the 1662 Campaign for Assisted Places. Did you know that if 35 OBs gave £30 a month through our regular giving programme, every year we would fund one Assisted Place. Should you wish to support the campaign please sign up here: https://lnkd.in/e4pi-mGM We look forward to updating you on the progress of our students and our campaign over the coming months. Together we can give talented children across West Yorkshire access to an exemplary BGS education.
