About us
Based in Manchester, UK, Blackrock is owned by Rodo Ltd, a family business with family values that are at the heart of everything we do. Rodo was established in 1926, supplying brushes to the textile industry in east Manchester and with an entrepreneurial spirit at its heart that still drives us almost 100 years later. Product is the lifeblood of our business and our passion: nothing excites us as much as product development. The Rodo of today has two business divisions: one supplying decorating tools and accessories, and the other supplying safety footwear, hi-vis and PPE. Whilst Blackrock can trace its history back to 2004, Rodo was sourcing safety products as long ago as the 1970s and everything we learned in the years leading up to 2004 laid the foundations for the Blackrock brand. Since its launch in 2004, Blackrock has grown rapidly to become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of safety footwear and printed high visibility clothing, with a growing business in gloves and protective equipment. Our customers include industry, corporate outfitters, safety distributors and trade merchants and, whilst we love talking to the people who wear our products, we are business to business and never undercut our customers by selling direct.

Today marks the start of National Protect Your Hearing Month. Ear defence is sometimes an overlooked area of health and safety in the workplace, but it’s a fundamental aspect. The Blackrock range features both the earmuff-style industrial ear defenders in a padded or foldable design. Best used for an adjustable, comfortable fit - reducing noise of up to 27 dB. The second solution are the foam ear plugs - available with and without a neck cord. Ear plugs are an ideal protective hearing product for a more secure fit, and can provide noise reduction of up to 39 dB.
