Policymakers in both developed and developing countries are increasingly including carbon pricing in their strategies to meet climate targets, but carbon markets are complex, with numerous types of assets, mechanisms, systems and players. BloombergNEF’s Carbon Knowledge Hub is a public web platform by that provides companies, policymakers and other players with the information required to understand and navigate compliance and voluntary carbon markets. The upcoming US elections could reshape global climate progress. 🗳️ 🌎 Trump and his Republican Party have vowed to repeal the IRA, a keystone climate law that Harris and her incumbent Democratic Party hope to build on. The economic benefit of the US’s clean energy boom, and a closely divided Congress, will likely shield the IRA from major legislative changes regardless of who wins. But regulations – and looming tax bills – could still have a big impact. Read more: https://bloom.bg/48huO70 #EnergyTransition #USEnergyPolicy #Election2024

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Kosmos Energy

Emerging markets need access to reliable, affordable, and lower carbon energy sources -- but are struggling to attract sufficient investment. This moves us further away from the equitable energy transition we should all want to happen. Last week, I had the opportunity to return to this year’s #BNEFSummit to speak about this topic with BloombergNEF’s William Young, ACWA Power’s Marco ARCELLI, and Export-Import Bank of the United StatesReta Jo Lewis, Esq. The Executive Dialogue focused on practical actions to encourage investment and advance the energy transition in emerging markets. The solution is clear – countries and companies must work more closely together to mobilize the required sums of capital. At Kosmos Energy, we believe success will be based on building a shared agenda with host countries and aligning our work to national development goals. Collaboration, transparency, and respect are the cornerstones of sustainable development -- and the only way to create lasting benefits for all stakeholders. CEO and Co-Founder at Arbor | Carbon-Negative Power

Yesterday at the BloombergNEF Forum in Los Angeles, I had the pleasure of chatting with BNEF’s Mark Daly and Ryan Cook of Arc about how we’re tackling climate challenges with an aerospace mindset. Drawing from our time at SpaceX, Ryan and I reflected on a central theme of what drives us: working on really hard problems with brilliant people to drive outsized impact. That same ethos drives both of us to build sustainable businesses with a much bigger mission in mind. At Arbor Energy, we’re focusing on producing carbon-negative power—unlocking an energy-abundant future while actively restoring the planet. Huge thanks to Lauren Faber O’Connor from Lowercarbon Capital, our panel moderator Mark Daly from BNEF, and everyone who joined us to learn, support, and share ideas. It’s clear that building a truly sustainable future will require all of us to step up—collaborating, pioneering new models, and being willing to share what we learn along the way.
