𝗠𝟮𝟱 𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟴 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗣𝘆𝗴𝗿𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 🎨 Volunteers from the scheme were pleased to support Drapers Pyrgo Priory School with their painting project to improve it's appearance and give it a new lease of life. On two of the hottest days of year, the team swapped their laptops for paint brushes and made the short trip to paint the frontage of the school. Trudy Spillane, Principal at the school said: “A huge thank you to National Highways and GRAHAM volunteers who came and gave the school a face-lift in July. Even the school building will now be smart and ready for the September back-to-school start. The colour has not only had a thumbs-up from the children but also improved our energy rating. Thank you for making a difference to our community!” Great work guys! #projectvolunteering #communityimpact

𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀: 𝗔 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 Understanding the impact of our decisions is crucial and to bridge this gap, we have developed a unique and engaging game called High Stakes. An interactive experience that aims to provide civil engineers with a deeper understanding on how their actions can influence public perception. Using real life civil engineering scenarios, teams must make decisions that affect their score based on public opinion and stakeholder satisfaction. A group of young engineers from our Birkenhead project had the opportunity to play High Stakes and this is what Billy had to say, “I really enjoyed the game and I learnt more about different stakeholder issues that take place, while gaining a deeper understanding to how the complexities of dealing with stakeholders can be challenging and need to be handled with care and attention to help aid the completion of the project - I would recommend playing the game as its fun and collaborative when working in teams and discussing ideas”. 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 On Tuesday (3rd September) we installed the new bridge across the River Chelmer for Chelmsford City Council, marking the first major milestone on the project. The two single-span bowstring arches weighing 110 tonnes were lifted into position by a 500-tonne crawler crane with the aid of a 280-tonne super lift for counterbalance. The arches had been manufacurted off-site in eight separate pieces, welded on location and fitted with stainless steel tensioning bars to allow them to maintain their shape. The distinctive 50m pedestrian and road bridge is made from corten steel, which is a deep red colour, chosen to reflect the industrial history of the site. Karl Lomas GRAHAM Project Manager said: “The successful installation of the arches marks an exciting and significant moment on the project, which is making good progress thanks to the team’s hard work and a successful collaboration between GRAHAM, Chelmsford City Council and engineers Buro Happold. Now that work on the main span has been completed, the team will move onto the next stage of the build, continuing reinforced concrete works and finishing the bridge deck for completion next year.” Read the full story here: https://bit.ly/4dOyxLt

𝗔𝟭𝟲𝟰 & 𝗝𝗼𝗰𝗸’𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 ➡ In the first picture you will see that the new Bentley Bridge is starting to take shape with steel shuttering installed ready for concrete to be poured in early September. This will form the main abutment walls, which will support the structure of the bridge. The new precast concrete bridge beams are being manufactured offsite ready for delivery and installation in October. You may have noticed the new embankments approaching the bridge, which are now up to the required height. ➡We are progressing duct installation works along Victoria Road towards Regiment/Morrisons roundabout as part of a major fibre broadband network diversion. Yorkshire Water have almost completed their diversion on the east side of the A164 opposite Coppleflat Lane. ➡The outline for the new A1079 roundabout has started to form, you can see this when travelling down the A1079. The first layer of stone for the foundations has been put in place with road surfacing to follow along with the installation of new kerbs. ➡Earthworks continue across the scheme, including between Dunflat Road and Coppleflat Lane, ahead of stone foundations being placed and compacted. Earthworks and stone foundation works have been completed from the A1079 north to Minster Way. Main drainage works are to start between Skidby roundabout and Dunflat Road, with 1500m of new drainage to be installed. A fantastic achievement made possible through the commitment of our staff and supply chain on retaining a safe environment for everyone. To mark the occasion, we held a safety stand down and invited the site team to the main compound for a presentation on the upcoming high-risk activities planned as we work towards completion - finishing the day with a tasty BBQ to recognise this great achievement. GRAHAM Project Manager Hugh McNally said. ‘Significant progress has been made on the project over the last two years and this achievement is a direct result of everyone’s commitment to safety on the scheme. We now refocus to ensure we continue to deliver the project safely and successfully to completion in Summer 2025”. Keep up the great work! #healthsafety #achievement National Highways

𝗔𝟭𝟲𝟰 & 𝗝𝗼𝗰𝗸’𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 We were delighted to support the Molescroft Wildlife Network with their vegetation clearance project at St Marys Graveyard in Molescroft. Green fingered volunteers from the A164 & Jocks Lodge project, equipped with rakes, wheelbarrows and plenty of enthusiasm made the short journey to join over 30 volunteers from various community groups, including the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust . By carrying out the clearance of vegetation and arisings the wildlife group hope to promote the growth of wildflowers and other biodiversity rich species to help support wildlife in the future. Praising the volunteer’s efforts, Karyn Murby, Molescroft Wildlife Network said: “GRAHAM played a crucial role in the planning and implementation of the Molescroft Graveyard volunteer working party in August. The event was a huge success, a dozen organisations took part, over 30 Volunteers came and collected two trailer loads of arisings. It was hard work and great fun and a team quickly evolved. This was due to Daniel Cawthra MCIPR Dip CIPR, Richard Sandeford, Adam Potts and Micha Newman. They provided practical help with wheelbarrows and other equipment and worked very hard in the sweltering heat. But, more than that, we felt we were in a safe pair of hands. Their can-do attitude gave us confidence and the sense of camaraderie was a pleasure to be part of. It was a real joy to be working with them, they are a great team. Dan’s help with the planning and organising was invaluable, we couldn't have done it without them. Thank you!” East Riding of Yorkshire Council #volunteering #wildlife
