Our goal is to enable underrepresented groups to learn programming in a safe and collaborative environment and expand their career opportunities. To achieve this, we run free programming workshops, and regular events to create opportunities for our students to make technology and coding more accessible.

codebar Brighton is now 10 years old! we celebrated the event at Ideal a few weeks ago with sponsorship from Cogapp :) In our little git workshop we worked together in teams to create a site with changing themes and a poem to celebrate codebar. Last Tuesday our team finally resolved the last git conflicts and put the result online for everyone to admire! this is devastating news indeed. there is so much still to be changed in the tech sector to empower women and other underrepresented groups. Girls in Tech will be missed in this struggle but we will all keep fighting for equality x

For 17 years, we have empowered and inspired women in tech, working tirelessly to eliminate the gender gap. Together, we’ve reached over 250,000 people across 35 chapters in 30 countries. Girls in Tech has always been more than an organization—it’s a community built on love and passion for technology. I am immensely proud of what we’ve built together and the lasting impact we’ve made. Almost exactly 10 years after our first workshop at Ideal, we were back last night to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! Here we are coding away and trying to create some git-worthy poetry :) Not that different from the picture we shared yesterday from this long past workshop...
